THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Ohio State University will offer $5 tickets to the five remaining home men's basketball games to help cut into an expected athletics budget shortfall.
About 1,500 seats per game, beginning with Tuesday night's contest against Purdue University, will be marked down from their normal cost of $16, said OSU Associate Athletics Director Bill Jones. The reduced-admission seats will be in the upper level of the Schottenstein Center.
Tickets are open to the public and can be purchased at the Schottenstein Center ticket office or online through the OSU athletic department or Ticketmaster sites.
OSU is taking steps to address an anticipated $1.2 million athletics department budget shortfall before the current fiscal year ends on June 30. The university has implemented cost-cutting measures including capping per-diem traveling expenses, suspending professional development and restricting overtime within the department.
The men's basketball team has averaged 14,307 in attendance through 14 home games at the Schottenstein Center, far below capacity of 19,049.

i guess ive done my "patriotic" job as joe biden would say by paying full freight...

That is sort of baffling. They are not selling out all of the home games this season so they reduced the price of 1500 tickets for the remainder of this season and then raise the price $1 on all basketball tickets for next season. You would think that they would get the hint that the basketball tickets are not quite as hot of a commodity as a football ticket.

Spread the wealth:(

2000 short of a sellout last night even with $5 tickets available. I wonder if they could get a packed house if they gave away tickets. The students, yes the students,:! should be ashamed of themselves.
