Barry Bonds (Juiced Merge)

The titles will certainly change hands again, but I'm very happy that in my lifetime I've been able to witness (arguably, obviously) the best basketball, baseball and hockey players to play the game - not to mention a slue of world records in Olympic events (track, swimming, etc). If we can just stop being angry about Bonds for a sec and look at this track record:

Baseball Achievements:
- 7 MVPs
- 13-time All Star
- 8 Gold Gloves
- 12 Silver Slugger Awards
- Third member of 700 Home Run Club
- Only member in 500/500 Club
- Single Season Home Run King (73)
- Two-time N.L. Batting Champion (2002, 2004)
- Player of the Decade for the 1990's by The Sporting News
- All-time Major League walks leader
- Set single-season walks (232) and intentional walks (120) record
- Set single-season OBP record (.609)
- Holds Major League record for consecutive seasons with 30-or-more HR, accomplishing this 13 times

and now all time HR leader...

Thats a helluva career. And what happens IF they investigate and find nothing conclusive (as has been the case so far)?

I figured my comment would warrant some sort of response from you, 27... My head's not in the sand, and I'm still happy that I've gotten to see Jordan, Gretsky and Bonds (among many others, of course) in my lifetime.

The only man playing in the game last night with a proven steroid record was Bacsik the pitcher who gave up the HR...

Yeah....cuz I'm so outspoken about Bonds?

anyway....Bonds got caught "accidentally" using either the 'cream' or the 'clear', so that's false. either way, I'm not a judge or on a jury panel, so I don't have to close my eyes and wait for some scumbag lawyer tell me what might have happened. we all know he's a cheater, so fuck him.

I'm sure he couldn't care less about what I think....and that doesn't bother me either.

I was only judging by your previous comments.

Anyways, I'm not up for arguing over this, I just think its cool what he's done in his career - the body of work is amazing. I'm in the frame of mind to a) wait for anything official on this, and b) still not care. Athletes have always tried to get an edge. Whether its spitting on the ball, wearing longer cleats, using sticks with more curve, "greenies", corks or the clear, there's always something. Some of it becomes illegal, some gets remembered nostalgically. I'm not a baseball player, but people in my profession do all kinds of dirty things to get ahead. Sometimes you just have to say 'what the fuck.'

It seems Amercan's hate the person that holds that record until 20 years after it's been broken.
Mark McGwire wasn't hated.. and in terms of Ruth.. he played in a dead ball era, with fences that were 500 feet, and has considerably less games played than barry and hank.. but I've never ever heard anywhere that Ruth was hated by the fans

but what has gotten lost in the shuffle is that management, owners and commish, have failed to do anything about the steroids issue and I suspect that it's because it makes more economic sense to just let things ride.
I think what tells the tale is the summer of 98 with sammy and mcgwire going back and forth.. for a minute there, baseball returned to its glory days and it was much easier for baseball to turn a blind eye

Here, i fixed his "track record" for you  no doubt Bonds is hellova player and has one of quickest swings in the game.. and lets say he got what, 1 or 2 pitches to hit a game and still put out 73 homeruns? incredible for sure, but the roids have tainted everything, and most of his "records" came after 1999.. besides his gold gloves and stolen bases.. too bad he was juiced up even when he made the 500/500 club..

so outta the 14 bullet points you posted, 2 don't have an *

also was unaware he's been investigated.. dont believe he has yet

To anyone who says Bonds didn't use roids.. how does someone add 40 lbs of muscle when they turn 40? How does there shoe size grow 3 sizes? C'mon.. it should be obvious.. maybe its just a coincidence his personal trainer is sitting in jail right now  i cant believe pitchers didnt just walk the guy every single at bat

I just don't understand what there is to marvel at. Wow....look at all these things a cheater accomplished.

The funny thing is.....I don't care about any of those "accomplishments", or hitting 756 home runs. That doesn't mean a damn thing to me, cheater or not. I just hate that he purposefully used something that was illegal with the sole purpose of setting this record, and he has somehow fleeced half the people who give 2 shits about baseball to give him congrats about it. The praise he gets bothers me a ton more than the fact that he's a cheater.

Really I don't care if he cheated. The age old theory is if you ain't cheating you ain't trying. Plus tell me when Steriods were illegal in baseball during that time? So in the context of the baseball world he didn't cheat. Gotta love semantics

And heck, baseball in itself has a long list of cheaters. It is part of the game, everything from the ol spit ball, corking bats and telescopes in centerfield to steal the catcher's signs.

I just find people crazy picking on one player all because he is easy to hate on.

Now if you hate him because he is a prick, go right ahead. But you have to realize that even though he is a dick he is the best baseball player of our generation.

Steroids, don't use them.

If you're going to go into the tired routine of pretending like nobody has ever done anything bad until they've been caught red-handed or proven in a court of law, then you can save us both the time. You know he cheated, I know he cheated, everybody else knows it, too.
