What are they saying is the problem? Or are they just throwing parts at it?

The VA Fuel Pump dealership did a shitty job...according to this dealership and the local guys. Apparently, they just put in the pump...didn't clean out the fuel system or flush the tank. Fuel filter is in-line so they didn't even mess with that.

Basically, I didn't need a fuel pump...had some bad gas, bad plugs, and distributor was fried...however, the new fuel pump and the lack of being thorough made this problem much worse.

It's a little known fact that we won WWII inspite of the Jeep!

1 week update...minutes before they released the Jeep to me yesterday, the missing started again...

Apparently, the 1st dealership used a re-built pump...junk. Fuel pressure was less than 40%.

Fuel pump #2 going in...I did get reimbursed for the 1st pump and labor.

Ugh.

Made it back to SC...as they replaced the pump they found the true problem. Someone had put a large amount of sand in the tank...no idea how the VA guys didnt see it. However, VS reimbursed me and my insurance company is going to treat it as a vandalism and reimburse me minus the typical $500.

Ugh... messing with someone's transportation is low... that can be dangerous. Very glad you made it back safely.

Now, if it turns out this was just a result of too many trips to the beach, sympathy will be somewhat lessened. :wink2:

And a non-American car...

Seriously, my buddy's Jeep Grand Cherokee is less than 3 years old, under 35k miles. It's been to the dealer for unscheduled service at least 5-6 times and they still can't figure out what's going wrong. The tranny is barely functional. Must have been built on a Friday.
