It's one thing to manufacture a B1GCG. It's another to not have the best teams playing in it. Get rid of the divisions. Let the top two play each year.

It's another thing to trash OSU-MSU, OSU-PSU, OSU-UM to setup some impossible to predict balance.

The SEC divisions are fairly balanced. It's why Georgia played no one good all year, because the East didn't field any football teams this season besides the dawgs.

The B1G announced their plans to expand in 2009. 2 years earlier, and probably even then, no one would have bet that they make zero CCGs, especially with the original conference alignment.

No one guessed that MSU would be the big boy in the state and overtake OSU briefly.

No one would have guessed that when Nebraska joined they'd be a basketball school.

Get rid of the divisions and no one has to "guess" anything.

It wouldn't diminish OSU-MSU, OSU-PSU, and OSU-UM in the slightest.

So would you have divisions that don't affect the postseason?
Take top-2 teams based on some agreed upon definition TBD. I would think that the definition may include a CFP ranking… or maybe not, depending on how much trust one puts in the committee and where playoff expansion goes.

This year, presumably, it would have been a rematch tOSU v. tsun. Knowing the likelihood of that happening, one would have to balance the good with the bad.

I’m certain that I just make @Jaxbuck vomit in his mouth with the notion of a rematch potential.

I missed something. I thought Nebraska was a women’s volleyball school.

Yeah you did and hard pass on this idea.

No one else in the B1G would ever go for it because it almost guarantees you have to beat OSU twice to get anywhere
I’m also a hard pass on the ‘no divisions, take the top 2 for the CCG’ idea. There would be years where tOSU would be going into The Game knowing they’d be playing TTUN again in Indy the next week.

That definitely brings up the dilemma of not trying all out to win The Game because the rematch would be more important to some damn selection committee.

The SEC is fairly balanced in my imo

UGA/UF...Ala/LSU
Tenn.... ATM

Georgia even went out and scheduled Clemson, a clear top-3 team lately.

How was that schedule? Pretty questionable until Bama (who should have been fresh off a loss to a bad Auburn team).

Balance isn't achievable.

To be clear, I’m not endorsing the idea. Just answering how it could be handled.

The only benefit I can see is getting more shots at getting past them in the W/L column faster. That will happen in my lifetime so I’m not overly concerned.
