If conferencegeddon occurs should the B16T3N (L33T!) pursue the Okies?

And if not why not...

Because of their substandard academics (they're worse than Nebraska for ORD's sake!)?

Their history of cheating (we're talking Auburn & USC territory)?

Low population state that adds few new subscribers?

Distance & cultural factors?

One other factor is that their state politics may make it difficult to get Oklahoma without also taking Okie State.

But I think the B1G is better off without them - they'll either end up in the SEC or the PAC, and that's fine with me.

Academics and Barry Switzer are enough to say no thanks.

No.

Reasons: All of the above, plus what BB73 said ^

Also (stating the obvious), but the incremental revenue that new members will bring in must make financial sense. B1G can't afford to decrease payouts for member institutions as a result of expansion.

I vote yes, because the superconference reasoning is football based. Oklahoma is an extremely attractive addition in that regard. The only two programs that would be better in this regard would be Texas (Don't want the baggage) and Notre Dame. If the Sooners can join and keep the rivalry game with Texas, it serves the purpose of expanding recruiting into Texas, without actually taking a Texas school, which is a good thing. Plus, Oklahoma provides Nebraska with a good divisional rival, and would allow the B1G to do away with the legends and leaders crap, and go to an east/west divisional system. Obviously, the best possible scenerio does not involve Okie State, but involves Oklahoma and Notre Dame plus two others that bring in new markets. Two powers and two patsies, if you will.

Factoring in academics/research first and foremost viewership then athletics and then culture fit my dream options are the following:

ND - Say what you want but they would be a big get in terms of viewership. Location benefit is obvious.
GA Tech - good school and would add a serious presence in the south. Atlanta is not a true SEC town anyway
Vanderbilt - Academics...not much potential for athletics
Virginia - Academics and potential for athletics

If we go to 20 I would add...
Boston College - Help establish a presence in NE
Maryland - Just feel like it would be a good fit
Va Tech - Athletics (football at least) and they are a good enough school.
NC State

Again I am assuming that distance isn't a huge factor but rather the potential $$$ from network viewership and research is the primary focus.

You have the right idea... I think taking over the entire DC market with UVA/VT/MD would be a solid move... add in ND and you've added (nearly) all very strong academic programs with several strong athletic programs
