B1G CCG: Sparty +9.5 vs Wisconsin (ov/un 57.5) Sat 8 ET, Fox

From Ubets quote, it looks like it might have been a bad call. Still, if you don't put your guy that close to the punter, the call can't be made. I still say it was a stupid call.

It's easy to say that in hindsight. What about the fact that they gave up a blocked punt in their previous game? And they showed an inability to correct it by giving up another in the following week against tOSU.

Also, the pressure made him kick it quickly and resulted in a return to the 5.

Good call MD. Bad call by the man in stripes.

That was the right call at the end as much as it sucked. I really wanted to see another last millisecond pass for a touchdown so I could see the look on Bullemia's fat face. Regardless, this was a pretty epic game and a great way to bring in the new era of the B1G. Now we all go off to get our asses kicked in the bowl games.....except tOSU of course.

Well, it's not like it was an incomprehensible call. See three weeks ago. Don't go for the block when you have a little time and need only 3 points.

I thought he had committed a 'running into the punter' penalty before they said that the flag was thrown. After seeing the replay, I agree with the call. With about 1:45 left after the punt (if it had been a normal return), and only down by 3, it wasn't a smart play to go after the kick, especially since it was 4th down and less than 5. Any flag for running into him turns the game into Wiscy taking 3 knees to end the game.

It definitely looked like he hit the punter watching from my futon when it was live. So I agreed with the call as well.

We lose on a wonky Hail Mary, they lose on a roughing the punter. I'd say we're even.

Except you get the trophy. And the first game would have gone into OT, so who knows the outcome.

To be fair, in this game, with a no call on the punt it would have been 1st and goal from inside the 5 with a little over 90 seconds left. If Sparty scored right away, Russell Wilson would have had a chance. If Sparty got stopped on 3 plays, OT would have been likely.

Damn entertaining game, though. Credit to both teams. And congrats on winning the Stagg Trophy with no sticky notes attached.

Just like the Penn State game last week, I'll once again be rooting for Wiscy in the Rose Bowl, - Oregon as the opponent makes that a fairly easy choice for me.

That was the worst officiated game I've ever seen.

Shoulder to the chest = ejection?

The only way that doesn't get called is if Lewis gets a piece of the ball. MSU sold out - which maybe wasn't such a bad move considering Wisconsin's special teams woes. But on the other hand, I think they should have just played it safe and taken the punt. The way they were moving the ball all night, I have to imagine they would've like their chances.

Over/Under for the Rose Bowl should be at about 80... The Wiscy D is bad but they'll be able to pound it on Oregon. If they take the route OSU did in 09/10 (ball control, run clock), it may keep the score down, but that OSU defense was far, far, far, far better than this Wisconsin D.

per the rule, the kicker should have been assessed a fifteen yarder for faking.

He clearly has time to recover his balance, and instead dives. Also, the ass clown was giggling about it. Pretty damning evidence that he faked, which is again, against the rules.

not to mention that the rule is in place to protect the kicker. The kicker was fine on this play, wasn't dangerous at all.

from now on, lets refer to it as "remember when Bucky won* the inaugural CCG.."

*sorta
