B1G CCG: #1 tOSU vs #2 Indiana in Indy, Sat. Dec 6th, 8 ET on FOX

Play Van Sickle and maybe Moore passes Daniels in practice.
The crazy thing Tshabola has it in him. There have been games where he isn't bad. But he is inconsistent, at times it appears he is either lazy, doesn't care or doesn't have that killer instinct that is especially important in a guard. Daniels may get worse when Tshabola is in and doesn't play well. Daniels will be fine.

The issue has always been Tshabola. The entire season.

They have a couple weeks to figure it out.

Indiana is a damn good team. No shame in losing to them. But our redzone offense, lack of an identity in short yardage situations, and kicker who's scared of his own shadow are deeply troubling. Hopefully we get a similar flip of the switch as last year's playoffs, otherwise we will go home early
Said pretty much everything I was thinking after reflection but we really just need to scrap whatever redzone offense we've been running, we have extra time with the bye to do it and it's a clear weakness that is worsened by the legitimate concern we might miss a FG that seems like a gimme. We really need to be able to utilize Donaldson there.

Last year we were able to flip the switch and I think it's anyone's guess if we actually do. I'll try to stay positive and the bye helps us rest up and prepare, so there is plenty of room for optimism if the switch does get flipped on and we break some tendencies on offense and fix the issues on defense that IU exposed.

If it wasn't the Bucks being in the game and coming up just short, it would have been a great game to just watch and enjoy.
The guy sitting next to me was an impartial observer. He was marveling at IU's defense. He said it was like they were getting Ohio State's offensive calls because they were filling the passing lanes so fast.

For whatever that's worth.

I don't think Day was holding anything back last year or last night. I think people expecting a repeat of what we saw against Tennecheat and Oregon in the Rose Bowl is not indicative of what this team is this year - hell it wasn't even really what we saw against Texas or Notre Dame either last year. They have the talent to do it but it's not their comfort zone. I think a lot of things last night were matchup driven as well - whatever IU's game plan was, they executed it almost to perfection, especially in the first half. And it wasn't really exotic either - get pressure on the QB early, take away his quick reads and make a young guy go through the progressions in the biggest game of his life to date. And the hell of it is, Sayin still was pretty damn good (21/29, 258, 1 TD, 1 INT).

Their comfort zone is doing the normal stuff at such an efficient rate that it accumulates - @Jaxbuck said something like do the right thing 3% and 4% better all game long and it adds up - and that's exactly what these guys are.

Indiana did a hell of a job taking away some of those normal things, and Ohio State - no matter the reason, let downs from TCUN, not the more solid game plan, distractions with the coaching and recruiting stuff, whatever - took too long to adapt and adjust. They DID adjust, but it wasn't fast enough and it wasn't quite to their typical level of efficiency.

But in the end, I don't think they really held anything back. IU deserves the credit. This was a hell of a learning experience for Ohio State and now they have 3 weeks to absorb it, grow from it and get better going forward.
I think our problem is Sayin had a near 80% completion percentage all year. So we thought he was infallible. We forgot how hard it is for a freshman to play at this level.

Guys Sayin is a first year starter, Indiana made sure to try and rattle him. They did. He still has a lot to learn. He has all the personal talent and talent around him to win the NC, but he's going to have to improve his read speed, and pocket presence.

This isn't a knock on him BTW, it's just the truth. OSU has a STUD qb. BUT he is still a freshman.

We can think whatever we want - we're just fans. I can promise you Ryan Day doesn't think he's infallible.

If Sayin is the player we all think he is, he'll take this in stride as part of his growth as a QB. As good as he's been, as you said, he's just a freshman in experience. And it was about time SOMEONE pushed him to make adjustments, even TCUN didn't do that.

Julian will be fine. Considering the circumstances he played well imo. He was running for his life back there most of the first half. The pick was not the best read and by far the worst throw of the night. Most of his incompletions were throw aways, great defense by Indiana, or throwing up prayers at the end of the game. If the Oline plays just marginally better than the awful showing they had last night in the playoffs, and the play calling improves (crosses fingers), I think OSU will make some real noise.

I 100% agree Day doesn't think Sayin is infallible. Day basically took Sayin’s mind out of the game in the second half. Most plays they cut the field in half for him, or he literally had 1 read. ( he could have also run, which would have won us the game....)

You don't run like 5 or 6 boots for the first time all year, with 1 maybe 2 reads if you don't think your qb is a little out of his league. Why the fuck they ran those single read plays ( I actually think they were run/pass options and if Sayin runs on the second one we win) on 3rd and 1 in the red zone, I honestly have no idea.

Like you said, now Saying is no longer a heisman candidate that is this freshman sensation, he is a imbattled QB with a chip on his shoulder. The rest of CFB better watch the fuck out, cause Day, Saying and Smith are coming for blood.
