B1G CCG: #1 tOSU vs #2 Indiana in Indy, Sat. Dec 6th, 8 ET on FOX

Just watched the play in the red zone where Sayin sprints to his left and has to throw an absolute dime to Smith and Smith has to do something special for it to have any chance. That's what we've got?
This is part of my point - perfection is great and all, but when you rely on perfection, it's a low probability of success/low efficiency tactic.

On 1st down, it's not an awful playcall. On 3rd and 1, down 3, in the red zone, it's a godawful playcall.

Like you said, now Saying is no longer a heisman candidate that is this freshman sensation, he is a imbattled QB with a chip on his shoulder. The rest of CFB better watch the fuck out, cause Day, Saying and Smith are coming for blood.
This is something I am almost good with, they need to change the Heisman it shouldn't be while there are still games to play. IMO it definitely affected Troy Smith. Not that we would have beaten Fla that year anyway.

I've been told no other playoff team (other than IU) is able to do that to our o-line.

Texas A&M is tied for first in the country in sacks per game and Cryami is 12th.

Overall I don't think their defenses are very scary but they can and will get after the QB

I just put some data up in the 2025 offense thread, go check that out.

Oh, I definitely agree that others will be able to do this as well, unless we address this and come up with a few fixes.

The right question is can someone else do it consistently enough to overcome all the things the OSU offense can do to them.

IU is better than anyone else in the bracket and they barely had enough in them to do it.

I'm not saying the others will get 5 sacks on us, or disrupt as many plays, I'm simply saying the IOL is weak and vulnerable.

Now it will become a bigger focus of our opps.

Oh no doubt. It has been all year.

It still takes a pretty damn good team to exploit it (to a degree that matters) and none of the teams in our bracket are as good as IU at it.

Solutions for the offense:

Replace Tegra with Vansickle (Oline played so much better)

Implement quick short passing game/keep Julian on the move more, to compliment the deep shots if you have the protection (will depend on the game/opponents D Line)

Take out 13/14 formations in the red zone and short yardage situations. Spread them out. Keep your $4 million receivers on the field in the most crucial situations

Run from spread out formations

On the zone read/RPO Julian needs to keep it a few times. If he had last night, notably once inside the 10, it's a walk-in touchdown

Edit:

Forgot to add: Run some fucking tempo

Yep.

On another subject, total love and respect for Hartline, but this half a week in FL and half a week in C-Bus needs to end. Be 100% here, or 100% there. You can't give 100% to both at the same time. Only thing I can think of as to why, how if might devastate the minds of the young kids if he's completely gone to FL. Maybe that's what is behind it, if so, not much you can do about it.

Yeah, gonna just ride with Day on this one.

I don't like the idea of the split focus but a) they didn't ask me and b) others have made it work then again, c) last night was suboptimal.
