4-Year-Old Daughter Of "Ax Men" Star Killed By Family Dog | AHN

He also said that the attack came just four months after another Rottweiler was removed from the residence after it attacked an adult family member. That dog was euthanized.

After something like that already happened to someone in your family why would you chance leaving your defenseless child(hell an adult probably wouldn't have fared much better) alone with those type of dogs?

Obligatory "I don't know why they say that, my [fill in pitbull, rottweiler, etc.] is very loving dog" response.

They are, unless you mistreat them
Point is, a dog that is bred for aggressiveness toward other animals and for dominance among their own canines will be more aggressive toward the other dogs in its pack that other breeds. People make up the "pack" that would otherwise be made up of dogs. Pits and rotties will not always be mean, obviously, but they were bred to be more aggressive than poodles and Yorkies, and so when there is a bit of a problem in the pack, from whatever nature, they will more willingly assert their dominant and aggressive side than a calm dog like a lab.

Will labs bite? Yep. Pits make a great children's pet? Yep. As a breed is there an equal chance a pit-bull will bite you as a lab will? If my life depended on it, I'd rather be exposed to one thousand lab encounters than one thousand pit-bull encounters. Labs were not genetically bred to fight to the death while ignoring pain from their opponent, nor were they selectively bred for aggression.

I agree 100%. I would guess that there are a higher number of whitetrash, gangsta wanna-be's, and dumbass owners in general with the more aggressive breeds, which doesn't help. The one and only encounter I've ever had with a Pitbull was when my roommates drug dealer came over one day with his; it almost ripped into my other roommate when he came through the front door after work. I would guess the dog had been trained to react this way given the chosen profession of his owner. Anyway I would never dream of leaving my kids alone with any dog, especially an aggressive breed like a Rotty or Pittbull.

The fact that a dog is normally loving and affectionate toward children is no guarantee that, if stressed, the dog won't attack said kids. Dog breeds that have been developed for guard purposes are inherently risky.

Blah fucking blah..

I've been bit by a fucking terrior. I've been around FAR more Pitts, yet have never been bitten by one.

Black people steal, mexicans are lazy, and white people are opressors. I get it. You like stereotypes.

The discussion of breed behavior norms is kind of beside the point. The dumbass had another dog that had to be euthanized because it attacked someone. If that isn't an indication that the family ought to watch its dogs better (whether Rotts, St. Bernards, schnauzers or chihuahuas) I don't know what is.
