I don't know how many of you have followed Auburn this season, but they are just as prone to mental mistakes and implosions as NW is. 1 Touchdown difference, and a team that knows they SHOULD be up big. Don't count the 'Cats out yet.

Spielman is the best announcer ESPN has. He is objective and doesn't mince words. He uses technical speak that a lot of people don't understand, but that just shows that he is intelligent and knows the game.

You have to applaud Northwestern in this one, they have shown a lot of fight. Throwing 4 int's (2 in the endzone, 1 returned for TD) is pretty difficult to overcome. Nice job NW Defense for keeping them in this game.

I can't imagine a worse comparison than those three. I don't think they share any similar characteristics in their tone, style, insight, name-dropping, etc.

Spiels is a great announcer for the C-list games, rather than Pam Ward or other brutal announcers. He's fine when he has a good play by play guy alongside him. Unfortunately, he's been stuck with Mr. Monotone for years and now Griese.
Griese just needs to retire.

If he were an analyst sitting next to Lou Holtz and Reece Davis that'd be great...

...but as a guy who's supposed to be doing "color" commentary, his approach is not supplemented by the likes of Griese or anyone that he usually gets teamed with.

I feel the same. Stuck next to Griese. Griese is awful. If Spielman was with a guy like Herbie, that would be a great combo. Haha I sound like a homer.
