Atlanta to fire Jim Mora Jr.

vick is the falcons team so i dont want to hear how vick is a coach killer because he has dealt with poor WR play, poor offensive line, and this year a mediocre running game and defense. the guy has to be a one man show. he is the iverson for the 76ers. falcons havnt won a super bowl but without vick they wouldnt even be sniffing .500 seasons without him. a new coach is needed in the ATL in a bad way to unlock that teams potential.

I will agree in a sense but understand Vick does not exactly throw a good ball either. His touch is questionable! There are times he puts it right on the numbers and they should catch it but then there are others....Vick is going to make any offensive line look like shit. If Vick feels any heat what so ever he runs and all hell breaks lose. Now Peyton Manning does the opposite. He side steps the rush and gives himself more time to throw. Its said that a rookie Qb like Vince can come in and actually go through his progressions in his first year, yet Vick still can not and he has been in the league a lot longer. I live in the Atlanta area so I see every game and Vick is all show. Yes he is exciting to watch when he runs around but throwing the ball is totally different.

him and crumpler seem to have no problem hooking up often. like i said the rest of his team play and coaching is pretty mediocre and he is the franchise player and really for the most part the only real player on the team. i dont agree with him making his offensive line look bad considering he gets sacked more than most QBs and he is the most prolific running QB ever. passingwise he is no peyton manning but he has excellent arm strength and can deliver the ball on the money when given time to. his accuracy is pretty good except when he has to bomb balls out of desperation all the time. and vince young is overrated. he is riding the same media crazed bus that rex grossman rode when the bears were on their little streak. the titans defense has basically handed him games with short yardage off of forced turnovers so i have really not been impressed with anything he has done thusfar.

Good point comparing him to Iverson.

Isn't his completion percentage about the same as AI's field goal percentage? (about 40%)? At least Jim Mora Jr. has the good sense not to let Vick attempt as many passes as AI jacks up shots.

I was really hoping that this would happen.

The fact that the team has collapsed basically in the same manner the past 2 years after coming out of the gates fast is in times a large fault of the coaches.

It is time for some new blood and hopefully a different scheme offensively and defensively. The talent is there, especially with a decent offseason and a solid draft and the possibility of trading Schaub away to bring in another couple picks or some players to help the team out.

Vick has taken this team to a consistent playoff contendor and honestly should be in this year and last year. Last year they start off 6-2 only to collapse and finish 8-8. This year they could of been sitting at least 9-6 with two games they should of easily won over the Lions and Browns, and a few games where they had solid leads only to lose them like against the Giants and Cowboys.

Keep in mind what the Falcons with Vick b4 Mora was the coach.

no im pretty sure his is higher but the point im making is they are both extraordinary and phenomonal athletes with no help from anybody. and mora last year with duckett and dunn ran most of the time so it might as well of been a triple option offense. this year they cant really go off that even since dunn has been dinged up and the running game is pretty inconsistent.

Or it's like New Orleans, where they didn't get better until they dumped both the inconsistent QB (Brooks) AND the mediocre coach (Haslett) and now they have the division title that the Falcons want. The situations aren't identical, obviously, but one wonders what coach is going to be able to win consistently with Vick at this point.

well in the beginning he had no players to get the job done and now he at least has some decent players surrounding him....with a new coach they could make a run in the NFC and if they tweak the defense and find a go to WR and reliable running game vick could very easily take them to the super bowl.

Very true, and if I'm out trolling for NFL jobs, the Atlanta job, coaching Vick, would be at the bottom of the list, still on it, but at the bottom.

Right, nobody wants to coach vick because they try to put a new offense in but vick cant run it because he always destroys the plays by running the ball or he just cant complete the pass. He's too unpredictable.

There is another side to that though Jeffcat.
Crumpler is a Tight End that Vick uses as his primary, darned near his only receiver. Put Jenkins and Lelie on other teams around the NFL that have a more traditional pocket passing QB and they would likely have improved production, even in a 2nd or 3rd option role. Put Crumpler in a similar situation and he might actually have exactly the same yards, but would, statistically, be the 3rd most productive receiver. (TDs would be a different matter, because on any other team Crumpler might not be seeing the ball when the QB can actually find an open WR near the goal-line). Conversely put, say, Harrison and/or Johnson, or any other productive WR on the Falcon's squad and, in my opinion, they would slip into relative obscurity.

Crumpler's relative productivity in hooking up with Vick is more an indictment of Vick as a QB, than it is a concrete reflection of poor play by the remainder of the Falcon WR Corps.

good for Atlanta. If Jeff Fisher can work Vince Young (I'm only saying this becuase VY is a rookie...I have ton of respect for his game) in Tennessee and finish 8-8 in the first year, then Mora Jr. should have no trouble with Vick after so many years. He should have figured out by now...how to use Vick.

Vick do need to shut his mouth and play like manning before wanting to throw to Manning's receivers.
