Atlanta to fire Jim Mora Jr.

Vick has taken this team to a consistent playoff contendor and honestly should be in this year and last year. Last year they start off 6-2 only to collapse and finish 8-8. This year they could of been sitting at least 9-6 with two games they should of easily won over the Lions and Browns, and a few games where they had solid leads only to lose them like against the Giants and Cowboys..
Is there any chance these "collapses" were caused by the D gameplans tuning into Vick and changing his play? If Vick runs the ball too much the Falcons lose.

Or it's like New Orleans, where they didn't get better until they dumped both the inconsistent QB (Brooks) AND the mediocre coach (Haslett) and now they have the division title that the Falcons want. The situations aren't identical, obviously, but one wonders what coach is going to be able to win consistently with Vick at this point.

The thing is, look at what Vick did b4 Mora...

Can you blame the collapses the past two seasons on Vick?

Losig to teams that you are better than is more of an attitude thing that is usually instilled by the coach. I am usually the first one to back a coach, b/c no matter what the players still have to go out and make plays. But in this situation Mora doesnt know how to handle himself with some of the ridiculous things he has said to the media and the fact that he has talent on his team and he isnt putting them in the right situations to win...

BTW as we have seen with Brooks he couldnt even keep the job in Oakland and that is saying something. Vick has proven with his winning record and his trip to the NFC championship game that he can win games.

So the offense putting up 28 pts against the Cowboys why the D decided to collapse or watching the Panthers run the ball 60 times and throw about 10 and still being able to control the game. I know this is only a few examples, but all teams have bad games on offense at times, but the defensive struggles have been what has killed this team this year along with the shitty WR play for 2/3 of the season.

There is another side to that though Jeffcat.
Crumpler is a Tight End that Vick uses as his primary, darned near his only receiver. Put Jenkins and Lelie on other teams around the NFL that have a more traditional pocket passing QB and they would likely have improved production, even in a 2nd or 3rd option role. Put Crumpler in a similar situation and he might actually have exactly the same yards, but would, statistically, be the 3rd most productive receiver. (TDs would be a different matter, because on any other team Crumpler might not be seeing the ball when the QB can actually find an open WR near the goal-line). Conversely put, say, Harrison and/or Johnson, or any other productive WR on the Falcon's squad and, in my opinion, they would slip into relative obscurity.

Crumpler's relative productivity in hooking up with Vick is more an indictment of Vick as a QB, than it is a concrete reflection of poor play by the remainder of the Falcon WR Corps.

.....or just because crumpler is the only one ever open which is why he gets the ball. the falcons WRs have been far lesser than their expectations were intially. they have dropped passes nor can they separate from defenders often which is one reason vick throws in lasers at them because half the time he has nearly impossible windows to throw through. dont get me wrong i think the WRs have talent and ability......which is one reason why they need a new coach with some new offensive schemes to try something else because mora obviously isnt cutting it.

Another thing that most have forgot about was Finnerann who was another one of Vick's surehanded receivers that he looked for in crucial situations got hurt early in preseason and was out for the whole season. Hopefully he is back for next year and ready to go.

And the reason we would be watching thaT GAME IS.......??

Just to show that it really doesnt matter how good the offense is when the defense freakin' sucks ass...

Hell Philly has played their second stringers all game. At least a loss to the jv eagles will give the Falcons a better draft pick...

Just goes to show you that a Mora coach team has no heart to finish a season on a strong note, and gives Blank more reason to torch his ass...

No I'm not saying it's all his fault...it wasn't all Brooks' fault in NO either, because their running game sucked for years, and their line was prone to injuries...much like it is in Oakland, actually. I'm just saying that New Orleans looks like a different team with a new coach AND a consistent QB...I don't think they get more than 6 wins this year with Brooks, maybe less, even if they have Payton, and I don't think Haslett could have taken the 1985 Bears to the playoffs, so in that case both things needed to happen.

So Mora goes, and they get a new coach with a new offense...Vick still has to be consistent enough to run it, and that means quite a bit of work on his part, along with upgrading everything else.
