Some athletes are real-life human people.
Some people seem fine enough, but are actually jackasses.
When a jackass apologizes for their jackassy behavior, it doesn't mean he/she is no longer a jackass. It likely means that in addition to being a jackass, they are a liar too.
If anyone expects a jackass to cease being a jackass at the moment they issue an apology (authentic or otherwise), then they too should probably be considered a jackass. (and owe the rest of us a fake ass apology)
