Astroturf coming to Bill Davis stadium

In highschool I was able to play football on the field turf a few times, never had the chance to play baseball on it. Would be interesting to take a groundball at 3rd or a line drive into the outfield off this stuff.

It will be much better than the current field conditions, and will allow the team to practice almost any time of the year. It's not astroturf though, it will be the new field turf. Played on it at Louisville and it was very nice.

They play in different seasons (Spring vs. Summer), so this isn't an apt comparison, but I'd like to keep grass just due to the fact that there are only two MLB stadiums (Tampa and Toronto) that play on an artificial surface.

But again, they play in different seasons, so this isn't a fair comparison.

I'd be interested to know if the change is due to playability, ability to hosts more events or overall costs (upkeep and such).

Ohio State will be joining a growing list of college baseball teams that play on artificial turf.

AstroTurf GameDay Grass is being installed at Bill Davis Stadium and should be ready by the time the Buckeyes begin fall practice.
Is there a reason why the athletic department didn't go with FieldTurf's baseball product like Texas did with its baseball stadium (going with AstroTurf GameDay Grass)?

I didnt really know where to put this post, but along with new turf there will be some other renovations made to BDS soon. One thing for certain is a fancy new scoreboard scheduled for 2013. I know i wont miss that old piece of junk with half the bulbs out.

After the $5.5 Million rebuild of Buckeye Field for the Softball team, we knew there would be upgrades coming to BDS. Can't wait to see a few games this year.
