Purdue running back Kory Sheets has been prohibited from speaking to the media in the wake of his comments following Saturday's loss to Northwestern. Sheets criticized quarterback Curtis Painter for not passing him the ball during the game.
"I'm kind of starting to get used to it," Sheets said. "It seems like the defenses aren't even covering me because they don't think I'm going to get the ball anyway. It's been that way last week and the week [before]. So get used to it.
"A number of things are going through Painter's mind, and he's just kind of forgetting that I'm out there."
Sheets also said, "No comment," when asked if Painter was the quarterback who could lead the Boilermakers to victory.
Purdue coach Joe Tiller responded to Sheets' remarks at his news conference today.
"As I said to our own coaches, that he has grown physiologically but not intellectually in the last four years," Tiller said. "So if you know him, that's not a surprise. It's a disappointment."
"I think we all know Kory pretty well," he continued. "Anything that Kory says doesn't surprise any of us, players nor coaches. Kory is liable to say anything at any time. I have an issue with what he says somewhat. The other side of the coin is, you know, he's playing hard. I think his heart's in the right place. I think he's frustrated. I think it manifested itself in some comments. ... I don't think, from a deep-seeded point of view, that he's malicious or thinks anything really bad about his teammates. But I think he's frustrated. The guy's a competitive guy. He wants to win."

. I wonder if I should start him this week. They might not block for him.
