As If I Didn't Hate PayPal Enough.....

Apologize if this has been posted before, searched and could not find anything and thought it was worth repeating even if it was already posted.

And now, PayPal: A few months ago, uber popular blog DeadSpin announced a fund for Adam Knox, a marine and Buckeye fan who was killed in Iraq. This incredible act of kindness was met with enthusiasm and a PayPal account was set up to make a donation easy. Unfortunately, PayPal doesn't like doing the right thing. DeadSpin followed up with an update to let readers know the account fund has been frozen by PayPal. For 6 months. Disgusting. The folks behind DeadSpin are stunned and are reaching out for us to voice our maelstrom of complaints to PayPal. Again, go here to find out what you can do and who to contact.

The reason for freezing the account is totally bogus, too. All tax exempt status determines is whether or not your donation is tax deductible under the IRS code....WAY the hell out of PayPal's purview. It's none of their business whether the donation is tax deductible or not.

The only conceivable reason I can think of would be that PayPal is charged with sending donation summaries for tax prep purposes. But that does not make sense to me...they are just facilitating transactions. Tax reporting is the obligation of the non-profit.
