Very interesting article, I'm also a native Cincinnatian and I agree with a number of the points. But what also needs to be added is Cincy's closer alliance to KY than the rest of OH. The writer forgot to include Eugene Clifford who was a very big recruiting win for Tress, a ball hawking S from Colerain who won a state title under Coombs as a sophomore. Tress also got Rob Schoenhoft from St. X and people forget about Kelton Lindsay going to OSU under Cooper. There are a few others I'm sure, but I don't think Tress had much comfort in SW Ohio, his areas were more northern Ohio, Dayton was usually as south as he went. The hiring of Coombs and Urban having roots in Cincy certainly helps, as did having the spring game at PBS as well. Cincinnati will never be as Buckeye crazy as Columbus, or even Cleveland, as for those cities, OSU is the only nationally recognized college. UC and Xavier are both known nationally. But there still is a large Buckeye contingent in Cincinnati, I got over a dozen "go Bucks" calls when I was walking through Jungle Jim's yesterday getting food and drinks for the NC game. As fanatical as Urban and his staff are about recruiting, I don't see Cincinnati being looked at from afar any longer. And at all the HS football games I went to this year, you saw a large number of Buckeye gear being worn. Kids will go with winners at the end of the day. And it also helps that Tuberville refuses to recruit local talent like Jones, Kelly and Dantonio did before him. Instead trying to get southern talent north, and pissing off local coaches
