Fellas, don't kill me here. I am just stating the rules. I am not saying this was right because clearly he was dumb. But JT will not crucify Haw for something according to Ohio State law is equil to a speeding ticket (unless there are some team rules that I am not privy to).

When was he taken to booking then?

I would say we are having a semantics issue here...he was ticketed/cited. Arrested in this circumstance is stopped/detained at the scene, not being booked.

I see your point in this but I do not agree with the usage of arrest in the context you are placing it.

I guess that's why Erik Haw was placed under arrest at 7:18, but then released at 7:46 by the officer....

I don't remember seeing that when I got a speeding ticket.
Lloyd, when you were "stopped" for a speeding ticket, by definition you were "arrested" or to be stopped and detained.

I hope the people who are all for booting Haw will be just as zealous the next time a player gets busted for underaged drinking. According to the laws of the state of Ohio, underaged drinking is a much more serious crime- a higher classification, possible jail time, and a 10X higher maximum fine. Of course, virtually everyone on this board threw back a few when they were 19 at a kegger, not everyone can relate to a kid w/ hair like Coolio who smoked a blunt...

As for the legal definition of "arrest"-technically there is not one-if the cop has you under his control, you could be classified as being "arrested", according to a prosecutor I talked to-he handles only misdemeanors like DUIs and weed posession. For a practical purpose, if you do a search of arrest records for Montgomery or Franklin County, this kind of thing will not show up-you have to be booked in jail to show up under the county's "arrest" records.

Lloyd, why erase the rest of the citation? Maybe because it does not say he was taken into custody? He was stopped at the scene not booked. Your usage of arrested is correct in the sense that he was detained at the scene, however, your contextual usage of the word is incorrect as you are implying that he was taken into custody.

Arrest: A person has been arrested when he/she has been actually placed under restraint or taken into custody by an officer or person executing a warrant of arrest, or by an officer or person arresting without a warrant.

when we are under the microscope, and then a player gets busted for distrubuting alcohol to minors, and then a few days later a player gets busted for underage..........yeah, we will all still be pretty pissed.
