Arkansas State @ tOSU, Sat Sep 10, Noon ET on BTN

ArkSt has some decent players, but Defense just isn't making plays in space on the edges of the field. They'll make some adjustments but players have to tackle. The DL and LBs look great and good, though.

Offense has 302 yards but still looks like it's caught in between gears. It's true that missing JSN and Fleming hurts, just didn't think it'd effect them as much against ArkSt. CJ and Egbuka are just a bit off on plays. I'm sure the chemistry will continue to improve.

The other guys are all on scholarship too fellas. They will make a couple plays here and there. We have really gotten so much better at not allowing one bad play by us turning into a bad drive or bad quarter. Against their defense, a 3 and Out is unacceptable so stop getting cute with the play calling and go right at these turds.

I can see us putting up 35 this second half and pitching a shutout. I can understand though where a lot of people are fearing us making this a game because the past couple years have been stressful.

Hard not to expect slop with all the substitutions.

I think Johnson and Knowles are being strategic and playing the long game here. They are rotating 2nd and 3rd stringers in to get them game time against a competent 1st string offense. This will pay dividends in late October when we don’t have to worry about tiring our starters out. Sure, they don’t look great - but what would you expect from some first year starters?

the only thing that is confusing is Strouds timing and connection. Don’t understand the lack of consistency with the 2s. Second half should be more dynamic as Day seems to be a great halftime analyst.

It’s very easy to get slack and play down to the opposition. Not acceptable, but easy to slip into it. God knows I’ve done. It’s hard to go full throttle when you’re not getting the pushback and then that leaves you open to getting gashed. I think that’s what’s happening and it’s on the staff and team leadership to sort it. Also, though, I think you get another TD or two on the board and start getting the younger guys who are fired up in there.

Only thing I'm worried about with the defense is depth. Feels like most of ArkSt's yardage has come when the backups were in. They were doing nothing when the starters were in. CBs I guess is also a slight concern with the missed tackles but this could just be a lack of focus and not a regular occurrence.

Offense is concerning me a lot more right now tbh. Just no flow to it at all.
