yeah, the vocabulary portions of the wisc, wais, and sat are there just for filler. i never stated that it's a "great" test of intelligence. i stated that it has been found to have a high correlation to intelligence. i don't think that vocabulary in and of itself necessarily correlates highly with intelligence. however, i am stating that i think it's the underlying motivation to develop a large vocabulary that correlates highly with intelligence. i think most reasonable people would agree that there is a direct relationship between intelligence and the desire to learn. vocabulary is but one measure of this desire to learn. perhaps vocabulary is measured in this sense because of the relationship between language and thought, as well as language and pattern recognition.

that's an interesting comment you're making, though, considering that you define intelligence as the ability to hold numerous conversations about gorditas, little debbie snacks, and preferred methods to cook hot dogs.
