  • As we approach the New Year, I am always amazed by the number of news and morning show pundits, gurus from all walks of life, columnists, etc. that want to show me the way to my New Years resolutions.

They want to help one define the hows, whys, whats, and wherefores of being resolute in the new year. Don't you know that you should resolve to do these types of things to further your career or enhance your quality of life, etc. and we know just how you should do it by following these 7 great steps to success.

I find that when I read these posts and hear these folks, that I just think to myself DUH no shit Sherlock. I ask myself, if they have ever heard of this little thing called "common sense"? Have they ever just thought back over what they have learned, observed and experienced in their life and said hey, here are some things I can do?

    C'MON MAN.....

Resolution No. 1 - Laugh more at the gurus....

I have a daughter and still..no clue what Barbie drives. But hey, if that's what you're into....

My nieces have a Barbie jeep, it looks a lot like the one floating around here. I have a few buddies who are little too into the jeep thing, but that's for another board, I guess.

Read an article on Bloomberg yesterday that for the average 38 year old male in Chicago it would cost $64,000 to do the normal resolutions for the entire year. Things like exercising, eating better, traveling, etc. Pretty extreme, but interesting.
