Season 5 started off slowly and almost ruined the Pam character. Halfway through though it really picked up, and it looks like they're going back to the ISIS plotline.

Personally, I was hoping they sold the coke and all moved to Hawaii: Archer P.I.!

I was hoping they kept the coke and moved to Hawaii, but, hey, whatever.

In the last scenes of the season it really gets emotional. Lana starts to explain to him that how she came to use the sperm he had frozen at Dr. Feldman’s office some years ago. She tells him he is, all the other stuff aside, physically, an amazing human being and she actually loves him. Archer reaction: he just fades out.

When he comes by, Lana welcomes him with the epic words: Sterling Archer, I'd like you to meet your daughter, Abbiejean.

And we’ve got all the cliffhangers we need for next season.

Old article, but it tells where season 6 is going:

'Archer' Season 6: A return to ISIS, the wee baby Seamus and did Krieger survive? EP Matt Thompson gives the scoop

"Archer" brought its fifth season, "Archer: Vice," to a close Monday (April 21) with a couple of bombshells -- Malory had been working with the CIA all along and Archer is Lana's baby daddy. Executive producer Matt Thompson tells Zap2it that those two big reveals were where the show was always headed for the end of Season 5, and he also lets us in on some scoop about where the show is going for Season 6.

0113075960096_210X270.jpg

Zap2it: Season 5 of Archer was a lot of fun, very outside the box from the previous four seasons. What gave you guys the idea to go that route this year?
Matt Thompson: I think that we did Season 5 because we felt like we had been getting into a "mission of the week" rut, where it was like here's our mission this week, here's our mission this week. And we wanted something to jump start and kind of push us down into a place that we hadn't necessarily been before. At the same time, it was still the same show. I really, really enjoyed it, in all honesty. I liked it a lot more than I thought I was going to.

We did too, it was a lot of fun. The music in particular was awesome, what a great idea to have "Cherlene" come into the mix.
When we first started this season, we didn't know we were going to do that. We got going on the first episode and we decided that we didn't want to scare everyone into wondering what the show was going to be, so we wanted to do a large trailer in there to say, "Yes, we are taking a new path, but there's going to be a lot that you recognize." But in doing so, we realized we wanted to do this particular song. And it became me and [creator Adam Reed] talking about well, if we're going to do it this one time, why don't we do it for the whole season?

We also decided that if everybody got into the business of selling cocaine, they would be doing it for strictly monetary reasons. But Cheryl, we've said before, already has half a billion dollars, why is she doing it? She needed a different motivation anyways, so it kind of just naturally came together.

Was it always planned that Malory was working with the CIA?
That was a given that Adam went into the season with. He went into the season with a couple of givens: He knew that we wanted to end up in a fictitious South American country, he knew that it was basically an Iran-Contra deal, he knew that he wanted to have a baby at the end of the season ... and we knew that we didn't want to them to be successful at selling cocaine.

I'm looking forward to them getting back to having some success. For whatever reason, it felt wrong to have them be successful drug dealers. Now, as successful spies? I'm down with that. I think next season we're going to get back to you win some, you lose some as spies.

So will it be back to business as usual at ISIS? What can you tell us about Season 6?
It'll be business as usual-ish. The CIA is going to be involved now. ISIS is not going to become the CIA, but we are going to be sub-contractors for them. I believe the Christian Slater character and Agent Holly [Gary Cole] are going to be back. They're not going to become main-main characters, but we do sub-contract out for the CIA, so you're going to see that, us going and doing some of the dirty work for the CIA.

Right now, we want to get back to big spy missions and dealing with the moral ambiguity that is doing s***ty stuff for the CIA, as well as wanting them to get back on the winning side here and there. Not the winning side morally, but as opposed to in Season 5 how every coke deal went wrong.

"Archer" returns for Season 6 in early 2015.

Season 7 started last week.

Episode 1 (The Figgis Agency) opened with Archer being apparently dead in a swimming pool:

Then the show flashes back 6 months. Since the CIA black balled them from doing subcontracted CIA "spy work", they now have started a private detective agency in LA. Both episode 1 (The Figgis Agency) and a new episode 2 (The Handoff) will be on tomorrow night.

‘Archer’ Season 8 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Updates: Trailer Reveals Character Changes, Setting & Plot Next Installment! Predictions, Theories & More

archer-season-8.jpg

With the "Dreamland" plot, "Archer" Season 8 will experience some sort of reboot with changes to the roles of its characters being revealed.

The wait for "Archer" Season 8 premiere date is almost over, which is expected to happen in a month's time. Understandably, interest in FX's animated action-comedy series is starting to pick up. While info about the upcoming season is scarce at the moment, some details have been revealed via an "Archer" Season 8 trailer which was revealed at the New York Comic-Con this year.

'Archer' Season 8 Trailer Reveals Archer Is Alive

One of the most pressing questions brought by season 7's finale is the fate of its lead character, Sterling Archer. Audiences were led to believe last season that Archer might have died, leading some to speculate what happens to the series now that its lead character has been killed off. Thankfully, the revealed "Archer" Season 8 trailer during the NYCC answers these concerns.

The "Archer" Season 8 trailer shown at the NYCC reveal an alive Sterling Archer, reports Indie Wire. However, he is still recuperating from his injuries brought by the tragic events he had to go through last season. In fact, it was shown that the lead character will be comatose with "Archer" Season 8 premiere date comes, a condition that would dictate the plot next season. Unfortunately though, other than the reveal at the NYCC, the trailer is not yet out to the public.

'Archer' Season 8 Plot - Dreamland To Be Explored

Fans can expect a lot of changes by the time "Archer" Season 8 premiere date arrives next year. The upcoming season's plot will veer away from the events of the previous season and will focus instead on what goes on inside Archer's head while he is still on a coma.

One of the major changes fans may expect with the arrival of the "Archer" Season 8 air date is the change of setting. Apparently, the entire season will be moving back in time as it will be set in the year 1947, which is also revealed to affect the roles of its characters as well.

'Archer' Season 8 Spoilers - Character To Have Different Roles

The new period setting will provide interesting takes on its characters as well. For instance, Archer will no longer be a spy but a private investigator when "Archer" Season 8 release date comes. He will be leading an investigation on the disappearance of his partner Woodhouse, who is actually his butler in his waking life, reports Movie Pilot.

Other characters will not escape the changes brought by new plot with the arrival of the "Archer" Season 8 air date. In fact, Archer will be meeting them all for the first time, in the season's plot that is. Rey will be a trumpeter, Lana a singer, Krieger a bartender while both Pam and Cyril are detectives in Season 8's Dreamland plot. Oh, Pam will have another change as well because Pam will be a man.

'Archer' Season 8 Air Date

"Archer" Season 8 release date is slated for January 2017. However, FX is yet to make an official announcement as far as the actual date is concerned. Be sure to follow GamenGuide for the latest news and updates on the animated spy action-comedy series.

‘Archer’ Moving to FXX for Season 8 and Beyond

archer.jpg

FX's hit animated spy comedy Archer, is set to begin airing on sister station FXX starting with Season 8.

"Archer is an awesome addition to the growing slate of original comedies on FXX, where it will join It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Man Seeking Woman, and You're the Worst," said president of program strategy and COO of FX Networks Chuck Saftler in a statement.
.
.
.
According to show creator Reed, the series will end after the tenth season, though that has not been officially confirmed by the network. “The plan is to end ‘Archer’ after Season 10,” he said earlier this year. “I don’t know that anybody has talked about that, but that is definitely my plan, is to do eight, nine, and 10 — and they’re gonna be each shorter seasons of just eight episodes — and then wind it up.”

Archer Season 9 News

Executive producer Matt Thompson stated that season 9 will take place in 1939 after Germany has annexed Austria and Japan is invading China. Sterling Archer is a seaplane pilot just trying to continue his alcoholic lifestyle in French Polynesia. As you might imagine, danger soon comes to Archer's island home (hence the theme).

Aisha Tyler will play a princess this season while Jessica Walter will reprise her role as Malory Archer (reimagined this year as a bar owner). Amber Nash's Pam returns as Archer's co-pilot while Judy Greer's Charlotte will serve as an heiress who has come to this island for her honeymoon. Rounding out the cast is Chris Parnell as a German office and Lucky Yates as Archer's beloved wisecracking parrot.

Thompson stated that he wanted to return to the show's fun roots after last season took some surprisingly dark turns. The theme itself is inspired by '60s live-action adventures set in the tropics.

Archer season 9 will debut sometime in 2018. There is no word on Archer season 10's release date.

Hope they bounce back. Season 8 was the worst season in the series. The writing and execution just didn't rise up to the level of the premise (which I liked).

Yeah, I agree. Season 8 was worse than season 7; but both were bad. Archer should have stayed in the secret agent business, that scenario where he is in a private detective in the 1950s (or so) wasn't all that great.
