1) Is it more difficult for out of state students to get in?
************no preference (such as Wiscy does) for oos students but no penalty either

3) Does the school have a good history department?
********>Top 25 history department. Individual area study centers are also very strong with 3 State Department funded Title VI Centers (Middle Eastern, East Asian and Russian/East European)

4) I hear it has a bad math department, so how many courses are mandatory?
************Math Department is top 30 in the country, but it does have a bad reputation for undergraduate teaching

5) How accessible is Columbus from the campus?
********The areas you're going to want to visit (Short North, Victorian Village, Arena District, German Village and Grandview) are very accessible and, in nice weather, walking distance.

7) Will the fact that my grandfather went to TOSU count as all towards being a "legacy" applicant?
************>No help at all. OSU is very strict about this.

Anything else I should know about the school? I'm excited about the possibility of attending.

Thanks in advance,

Six Train

As back-ups to OSU, I am applying to:

University of Missouri
Louisiana State University
University of Nebraska
University of Iowa

Any thoughts on these schools?

Iowa hands down. Missouri's a good backup if you get Shaq'd by Iowa. Nebraska's meh. LSU is SEC (sh!tty education conference)
