I tried that one out yesterday. It's pretty sharp, but it's missing some of the features I enjoy on Instacast. Unlike Instacast (or Downcast for that matter) it's free though, so you can't beat that. If this app had been there as a stock app when I got my first iPhone I'd probably be using it to this day. As it stands now though I'm pretty entrenched with my third-party podcatcher.

Apple Patent Trolling Bans Another - Galaxy Nexus

Engadget - search patent the key

The patent system needs to be blown up. This hinges on Siri's patent, even though Android had voice search long before the iPhone 4S.

The earlier litigation centered around the slide to unlock, which also was not original to Apple

The truly outrageous part is that Apple blatantly copied 1/2 of the Galaxy Nexus slide to unlock functionality that they are asking the judge to focus on.

  • Apple copied other slide to unlock software with their first iPhone.
  • Samsung copied Apple blatantly, then tweaked it after legal pressure.
  • Samsung added slide to camera feature on unlock screen.
  • Apple copied slide to camera feature on unlock screen.
Everybody steals. As Steve Jobs said, good artists copy, great artists steal.

The new notification system for iOS was blatantly copied from Android as well. Perhaps we can just ban all Android & Apple smartphones and Blackberry can be rescued from the grave.

I'm getting sick of all these lawsuits.

Maybe if they (apple & google) would focus that energy and $ towards developing their products even more, it would be best for all parties. My gosh it's like there's a new lawsuit every freaking day

Yep the uspo needs to be closed and the court system needs an education. In the east district of texas is where a lot of these lawsuits are filed because its know to be troll friendly.

Another good quote i remember, those who can't innovate, sue

The funniest part of this whole saga, Samsung's semiconductor division makes all of apples chips.

This isn't so much "news," but I am having an issue with my new iPhone 4S and was wondering if someone could offer advice. I walk 40 minutes to work every day and usually stream music from Pandora or Morning Edition on the NPR app. For some reason, streaming is now stopping whenever the screen sleeps, whether because I press the button on the top of the phone or because it goes into energy-saver mode. It is VERY obnoxious. Suggestions?

What changed before you noticed it? Ie did you download an app or update the software?

Nothing that I can think of. One day I was streaming through the NPR app without a problem; the next day I was having this problem. I can't seem to find anything about it online, either. Very strange.

Have you tried a soft reset?

Press and hold the home button and the power button simultaneously for about 5-7 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. This is a bit different from powering the phone off and back on, and seems to help unfuck things if and when there are minor issues.
