Didn't read the thread, but I don't see how Redick could be more overrated than Dee Brown. Dee's got some 'mystique' that has for whatever reason infected the minds of people who don't pay attention to the numbers. The guy shot like 36% from the field this past season, and his assist/turnover ratio was the lowest of his career. He had nine games with four or more turnovers. He got on the 2nd Team because he's a senior, and because he was good last year. By comparison (in case nobody has done it yet), here are his numbers right along side the other point guards of the Big Ten:
Brown, ILL - 35.8 mpg, 14.2 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 5.6 apg, 2.8 TO, 1.8 spg, .359 FG%, .757 FT%, .321 3P%
Horner, IOWA - 36.4 mpg, 13.6 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 5.7 apg, 2.8 TO, 1.4 spg, .381 FG%, .746 FT%, .348 3P% (and a Big Ten Tournament Championship)
Butler, OSU - 33.3 mpg, 10.1 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 4.6 apg, 1.8 TO, 0.9 spg, .440 FG%, .804 FT%, .414 3P% (and a Big Ten Conference Championship)
In Illinois' two tournament games, he went 6 for 25 (.240), so it's not like he finished strong and left a good impression on voters. Redick may not be a 'complete' player, but the guy averaged 27.4 ppg. You have to put him on the 1st Team. Brown, on the other hand, had arguably the worst season of his career, and he's supposed to be one of the top five guards in the country? The fact is, plain and simple, the voters didn't want last year's AP Player of the Year to receive no accolades, and since TDials got Big Ten POY, the only thing left to do was hand the guy an All-American position that he didn't earn. That's what you call 'overrated'.
