You should get your facts straight before you start pointing fingers. Whatever--I'm done with this thread.

I do have my facts straight. You posted something that is open to debate. People disagreed and you whined, complained, got defensive, and praised anyone who followed your thinking. You had already started the juvenile act before your were called Einstein.

If your skin is that thin, I don't see message boards as a good way to spend your time. Get a grip.

Right. I said that Redick COULD BE (I never said he certainly was) the most overrated player I've ever seen. Please tell me where in that statement it says that I think he's no good or that I would never take him on my team. Just b/c I think he's overrated implies neither of the other two preceding opinions. Secondly, I never said anything about anyone's intelligence until I was referred to as "Einstein." You should get your facts straight before you start pointing fingers. Whatever--I'm done with this thread.
More devil's advocate here.......what is the point of even saying "could be". If you're going to throw "could be" in any opinion you make as a net to fall on when somebody shoots you down, what's the point in even making the statement.

I could be better than Michael Jordan at basketball.
I could be a multimillionaire.
I could be married to Jessica Alba.
I could be a position coach for the Ohio State football team.

What the hell is the point?

Didn't read the thread, but I don't see how Redick could be more overrated than Dee Brown. Dee's got some 'mystique' that has for whatever reason infected the minds of people who don't pay attention to the numbers. The guy shot like 36% from the field this past season, and his assist/turnover ratio was the lowest of his career. He had nine games with four or more turnovers. He got on the 2nd Team because he's a senior, and because he was good last year. By comparison (in case nobody has done it yet), here are his numbers right along side the other point guards of the Big Ten:

Brown, ILL - 35.8 mpg, 14.2 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 5.6 apg, 2.8 TO, 1.8 spg, .359 FG%, .757 FT%, .321 3P%

Horner, IOWA - 36.4 mpg, 13.6 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 5.7 apg, 2.8 TO, 1.4 spg, .381 FG%, .746 FT%, .348 3P% (and a Big Ten Tournament Championship)

Butler, OSU - 33.3 mpg, 10.1 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 4.6 apg, 1.8 TO, 0.9 spg, .440 FG%, .804 FT%, .414 3P% (and a Big Ten Conference Championship)

In Illinois' two tournament games, he went 6 for 25 (.240), so it's not like he finished strong and left a good impression on voters. Redick may not be a 'complete' player, but the guy averaged 27.4 ppg. You have to put him on the 1st Team. Brown, on the other hand, had arguably the worst season of his career, and he's supposed to be one of the top five guards in the country? The fact is, plain and simple, the voters didn't want last year's AP Player of the Year to receive no accolades, and since TDials got Big Ten POY, the only thing left to do was hand the guy an All-American position that he didn't earn. That's what you call 'overrated'.

Yeah but if you want a steal, who are you going to put in? The guy with 0.9 steals per game? I hardly think so.

The fact is the NCAA was down across the board this year. The big names in basketball always get extra hype from ESPN and others. Redick is an incredible shooter, and in a thin year for talent, he can rack up the awards. Felton/May can run circles around Redick/Williams.

Brown can be prolific or awful. I think he can be a very good fit on a talented team like 04 Ill. He is NOT someone that can carry his team all year long. In contrast, butler is consistently good but rarely prolific.

i dont necessarily think the ncaa was down this year, team wise or player wise. i think it is more like the b10 was this year. lots of parity and lots of good teams. i didnt see one team this year that i was like WOW. not one. lots of solid teams and good teams, many more than an average year, but not these mega teams that we see. with 12 scholie limit it is become more and more so. i personally wish theyd go back to 15 and put the redshirt back in play, so coaches could have the time to really develop kids.

12/24=50%
10/28=36%
not god awful games.

the other two show his importance to his team.
his he overrated, yes. is he hyped to be the greatest thing since slice bread, yes. is a helluva college player, yes. is he a "complete" player, no. is morrison, no. would i want jj on my team, yes. does he complain, yes. does duke get more calls than anyother team, id say so.

bottom line: anyone is lieing who says they wouldnt want him.

the funny thing about dee brown his numbers are basically the same as last year, yet has a lot less talent around him. no one was complaining last year. id take dee brown on my team too.
I wouldn't want him. Not because he's overrated or because he doesn't step up in big games. He's a helluva player, and certainly a good candidate for player of the year awards.
I wouldn't want him simply because he's from Duke.
