I agree completely, but I just don't see the need to downplay what the kid has done. I don't see anyone calling him the greatest of all-time...
i know. just playing devil's advocate. everybody assumes that when somebody is called overrated it means they suck. I think Tiger Woods is overrated....but that's because he is hyped 10 times more than he is actually worth. he's still a great golfer, just not jesus christ with a putter.

In 4 losses, he went 12 for 24, 10 for 28, 3 for 18, and 5 for 21. Marvelous?

How many games did Duke play this year, Einstein? If you want to compare him to Jordan (which wasn't the original point at all) I'm sure you could find games were Jordan was just as bad, if not worse...does Jordan suck because of those games?

I'm as tired of hearing about the two media white boys (Redick and Morrison) as anyone, but to say he doesn't deserve accolades is moronic...sounds like you have a serious case of "playa envy"...

what if he is rated as the greatest college basketball player in the history of life on Earth?

Just sayin....you can be overrated and good at the same time.

Exactly. I think he is ridiculously overrated, but I'm not saying that I wouldn't take him. I have a hard time calling him the best college basketball player in the country when all he does is mooch off of Shelden Williams and his teammates. Reddick is a shooter, and just because he can get hot and make a bunch of 3's does not make him a great "player". He may be a pretty good shooter, but not a "player". Read my post about Reddick in the Naismith award thread, if you want to see more of my thoughts of Reddick.

Well, not that its really Reddick's fault for the stupidity of some "journalists", but one of my local newspaper's "Question of the Week" was

"Is J.J. Reddick the best to ever play in the ACC? Why or why not?"

Yeah.... and these people are the ones writing the articles because they obviously know more about sports...

I understand where you are coming from, but the example you give is nothing more than a discussion bit...just like sports talk radio, those guys do not believe everything they say, but they bring up sides designed to keep people listening and arguing.

Thank you. I'm glad to see that someone has the patience and intelligence to read my post and thoughtfully consider what EXACTLY I was saying before jumping off the deep end and insinuating that I don't think he's a good player, that I wouldn't take him on my team, etc.

This is exactly what you wrote:

JJ Redick could be the most overrated player I've ever seen.

Before you start questioning people's intelligence, perhaps you need to look at what you wrote. Just like the sportswriters mentioned above, your opinion is open to debate. Just because someone questions your opinion or disagrees does not mean you need such hyperbole and dramatic defense. In this situation, based on your reactions in this thread, it is ironic that you are questioning someone else's intelligence and patience.

Right. I said that Redick COULD BE (I never said he certainly was) the most overrated player I've ever seen. Please tell me where in that statement it says that I think he's no good or that I would never take him on my team. Just b/c I think he's overrated implies neither of the other two preceding opinions. Secondly, I never said anything about anyone's intelligence until I was referred to as "Einstein." You should get your facts straight before you start pointing fingers. Whatever--I'm done with this thread.
