Well I think I have it. I have been in the bathroom all night, i'm guessing i have puked/dry heaved probably 30-35 times. my stomach and throat are so sore and i've probably only had 2 1/2 hours sleep (coming in 10-20 minute stints)

i just tried taking a sip of water and guess what, i puked 4 times. Anyone have any tricks to getting better/keeping water down?

thanks

food poisioning sucks... had salmonella once and thought death would have been a better alternative...

as for the puking thing... you need to stop trying to put anything in your mouth for a while. Wait for at least 2 hours since your last dry heaving before trying anything and then (once you haven't dry heaved for at least 2 hours) you need to sip a little bit (and when I say little bit I mean like 2 teaspoons) of water. Wait 15 minutes and take another 2-3 teaspoons of water. If you start dry heaving, start the process over. If you are able to keep water down (3-4 stints of a few teaspoons every 15 minutes) then you can begin to increase the amount. I realize a few teaspoons of water isn't much and you are probably getting dehydrated so our first response is to take a few swigs, just don't do that. Your GI system is in a cycle right now and you have to break that cycle and give things time to settle down. Baby sips will break the spasm/cycle.

I hope you feel better soon.

Follow Ryn's advice, she knows what she's talking about!

I had food poisoning about a month ago - it was the most miserable night/day of my life. I puked my guts out all night long and half of the next day. I couldn't eat solid food until another day after that and my stomach was still shaky, even then. It just sucked. Good luck man, hope you feel better!

Be very careful

Dehydration can be VERY dangerous. Food poisoning is caused by bacteria. If you have good medical insurance, you really need to get to the ER and hooked up on an IV to replenish fluids, be evaluated, etc.

thanks guys, i actually fell asleep for almost an hour and a half. I just asked my wife to get gatoraid and if that doesnt work i am going to the ER

How long has it been since you puked or dry heaved?

seriously, just stick with water.. when water stays down then you can move on to the more potent drinks (ie gatorade.) As for heading to the ER, really, I'd give it a bit more time... unless you are immunocomprimised or sickly to begin with, your body will be able to handle this... bottom line is you need to do what you feel comfy with but a trip to the ER sounds a bit like overkill to me.. just chill out, get some water to stay down and go to sleep.

great advice

I have never had to deal with food poisoning, but my Girlfriend had it and went to ER after a day of dry heaving and pukeing. The ER gave her these meds Lomotil and peromethazine.

I had really bad food poisoning about ten years ago from a Taco Bell in Mississippi while I was there for a school (all three of us that ate there got sick bad). We ate there for lunch on a Friday, and I got sick early Friday evening. Shit and puked every 20-30 minutes all weekend and could barely move...just wanted to die. There was about 10 times where I literally almost shit the bed and barely make it to the toilet in time. Did nothing but drink water right after puking and shitting (shitting is a relative term, since after the first time or two it was just water that went right through me). I wouldn't wish what I went through on anyone. Finally started to get better late Sunday afternoon, and was able to stagger through school on Monday.

Bottom line is keep as hydrated as you can. Whenever you puke or shit, be sure to drink water immediately afterwards.

Here's my best advice:

1. Stay away from me. I don't want to catch it.

2. This shit from GNC:

Sonne7.jpg

Sonne's #7 Detoxificant
# HH402
Sonne's No 7 Detoxificant

We buy it from the GNC at Town & Country Shopping Center on E. Broad St.

No shit, it relieves stomach and intestional problems.
