August 22, 2008: Investigation of Outbreak of Infections Caused by Salmonella Saintpaul | Salmonella CDC

We have been having problems lately with imported food. Wasn't there a tomato outbreak just recently and a spinich one here in Cali earlier in the year I think?

Tomato one ended up being jalape?os.

Sushi it could have been any dressing or anything that had egg in it. or if it was from a resturant that made you sick, then they may not have cleaned a knife of something after cutting chicken.

True. The thing I don't understand is that the things I ate 36 hours before I got sick were cooked fish with polenta and seaweed salad, Papa John's pizza during the OSU game (shared among 4 other people who didn't get sick), and a grilled panini (mushroom, spinach, cheese; Manfred had the same sandwich and he's fine). Weird.

Duh. He wouldn't poison his own sandwich.

Salmonella could have been on any number of surfaces you touched and ended up putting in your mouth unfortunately. The tomatoes turned out to be peppers, but for weeks it was assumed to be tomatoes which shows you how little we know about such things even today.

Sorry, Sushi. The problem is that the infection really damages the gastrointestinal mucosa. It is not a minor thing that you have.

I'm guessing the cooked fish, polenta and seaweed salad. Anything that sounds that healthy has to be bad for you.

Get better soon!
