Anyone capable of discussing gas without politics? Anyone?

Gas was $1.99 on my way home Monday so I figured I would fill up yesterday since I didn't really need gas then. On my way to work yesterday the same station that was $1.99 was up to $2.39. I was really pissed. I ended up seeing another station on a side street that was still $1.99 so I filled up right away. What fucking reason is there for gas to go up 40 cents in 1 day?

edit-Maybe I should have read Thumps post before I posted this

I think oil industries relized that at 1.99 they wouldn't be able to set record profits again so they had to raise the price back up

If you really want to know. A report is due out tomorrow on the amount of crude oil that has been stockpiled. If the number is low gas will continue to climb. If the number is high the price is supposed to go back down. So instead of just waiting the companies get all spooked and raise prices just in case.

Shot up from $2.29 to $2.69 in one afternoon. The clerk at one of the stations near my home said they raised their price due to the Shell station a block away raising theirs. I told them they should stick it to the Shell station, leave the price low, and make a killing on all of the customers going to their station instead of the Shell. :(

What do they do if they sell all their gas at a price of $2.29 due to the increased demand from their competitor not dropping their price? They have an empty tank waiting for their next load to be delivered and Shell can raise their price even more while your guy is sitting there with no gas.

Gasoline futures top $2
Meanwhile, oil-product futures closed higher following Wednesday's reports of lower inventories, with gasoline rising past $2 a gallon.
April unleaded gasoline was up 4.15 cents, or 2.1% to close at $1.9957 a gallon after trading as high as $2.005, levels not seen since Oct. 3

If I could be granted one wish right this moment it would be to be allowed to rabbit punch the heads of the five oil companies in the neck. I can't believe they can get away with turning HUGE profits last year, yet prices continue to climb this high.:mad1: They say it's cyclical, well maybe they should take a little less profit-wise this cycle. Jagoffs.
