Anyone Been To Iceland?

Just out of curiosity, Why are you heading to Iceland?

Things to see:

Anything that ends in "FOSS". These are waterfalls. Magnificent water falls. Gullfoss, Skulfoss, etc...
Blue Lagoon - this is the body of water surrounding the geothermal power plant in Reykjavik. You will not regret taking a dip in these waters.
The University of Iceland Campus - breathtaking. Gorgeous school.
Geyser - The site all other geysers are named after.
Hallgrimskirkja - Towering church in the capitol. Shaped like a rocket ship.
The girls.
Perlan - Offers a great 360 degree view of the city.
The club scene in Reykjavik is outstanding.
Partake of the local brews if you're a beer drinker.
Althingi - Parliament building.
Hofoi - The former French Consulate building was the site of Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev's 1986 summit. Its presumably the most haunted building in Iceland.

Many of those sites are definitely on my short list. I hadn't heard about Hofoi but sounds intriguing. Did you by chance stop up in Akureyri or Isafjordur?

The largest earthquake of the swarm, 3.8 in magnitude, occurred near Kistufell last night. It could be felt as far as Akureyri in Northeast Iceland, visir.is reports. The seismic activity continues.

As it sits right now, the region under the glacier has seen about 1400 minor earthquakes in a 56 hour period. Ranging from <1.0 to 3.8 on the Richter scale. Magma has been detected as close as 3-7km under the volcano. Roads north of the glacier have been closed due the flooding hazard of melting glacial ice and they are at an alert level of "orange". Second highest below red.

Bárðarbunga last erupted in 1996.

I used to fly Iceland Air on trips to and from Luxembourg when I was younger which came with a layover. Always wished that I had some extra time to spend in what seemed to be a reaaaaaaly cool place, albeit damn cold sometimes.

You could try to club a baby seal while you're there I guess. Don't fall in any volcanos. Stay warm.

Iceland's volcano has started erupting

looks like Iceland is finally getting a volcanic eruption — after a week of ominous rumbling.
The lava eruption, located near Iceland's Bárðarbunga volcano, is still small and contained underneath a massive glacier for now. But officials are watching closely to see how the eruption evolves.

Now there appears to be a "subglacial" eruption — which means that lava is coming out of the volcano and melting the ice at the bottom of the glacier. But the eruption hasn't yet broken through the ice to spew ash into the air. The IMO estimates that there's between 150 to 400 meters of ice above the eruption.
