Any way we can get to #2 in the final polls?

If Texas wins and shows that they are the best team in the country...and if Penn State loses to Florida State...then I'd say it is very likely that at 10-2, Ohio State would finish #2 in the country. The more Texas wins by, and the more we win by, will obviously decide how close it is.

Why would a 2-loss Ohio State jump over a 1-loss USC coming off a 34-game win streak? Won't happen.

Guys, I really think USC will win this one pretty easily. They'll win by double digits.
As good as the USC offense is, and as good of a defensive gameplanner as Carroll is, Texas will be playing like they have nothing to lose. This is the game that Texas has a chance to prove to the nation that they truly are an elite program. I don't think VY will let them lose.

we now what you're smoking in your avatar!

Texas' coach is a choke artist unparalleled in recent history. no one does less with more. they nearly lost to scUM lost year - a scUM team that wasn't good. they nearly lost to a & m this year - a really bad a & m team. they've played no one ALL year except us.

not going to be close. their defense has not seen the speed of an offense like USC anywhere this year. they're going down and I think they may go down enough to help us or Penn State move up.

04 USC almost lost to stanford, 02 OSU almost lost to basically everyone... this sort of thing happens.

I forgot, did Texas come into the shoe and beat OSU? With probably the best suited defense to stop VY in a long time? Of course we could have won that game. But they got the W, and that's what counts. I'm sure it's still eating UC fans that they dropped that TD pass at the end of the game.

Mack Brown's a choke artist, yet, he brought his team into Ohio Stadium under the lights and beat us. Losing to a choke artist "unparalleled in recent history" and all, what exactly does that say about our beloved Buckeyes?

His losing streak against OU is no longer relevent. He beat us this year, and then he went to Dallas and gave the Sooners a beating of a lifetime. No one but us has been able to keep up with Texas this year, especially when their receivers are hot. You can talk about USC's speed all you want. Texas will be ready.

Like I said...performance will matter. Texas will have to do more than win, they will have to show that they are definitely the better team...which likely will mean winning easily. Ohio State will need to at the same time, show that they are A LOT better than Notre Dame. Like I said...the scores will matter. I don't think it's likely to happen. My guess is we will beat Notre Dame, but still be #4.

he's a figgie away from losing in the shoe on a night we didn't play that well. he got very very lucky catching us early in the season. bring TU here now and a disaster of biblical proportion would occur to the Whiny Orange.

kind of like will happen to them in the Rose Bowl...

You're the one on crack. Our defense was superb that night, and yet they put up nealry 400 yards on us, and that was with them turning the ball over in their territory three times. Their defense is very good. If we were to play the again right now, I think we'd win but it would still be a close game.

You also mentioned in another post that Texas hasn't seen speed on offense like USC has. Uh, are you forgetting Ohio State? Ginn is as fast as Bush. Gonzalez is as fast as any WR they have, and Holmes is right there. Pittman is faster than White. And don't forget about Troy Smith at QB vice Leinart. Conversely, USC hasn't seen a defense like Texas'...the Trojans are in for a rude awakening.

some of the responses in this thread are comical. There is no chance we will finish #2. Anybody who thinks so has no understanding of college football polls or college football history. It is stupid to even discuss it.
