Any Runners? (10K or marathon)

How did it go?
Pretty well, thank you. 1:56:35, which is my 3rd fastest. But I'll take it after 4 1/2 years of running no races except a local 10k 2 years ago. And I had the best negative splits over the last 3+ miles I've ever posted. So I'm learning how to stay within myself and effectively engage the turbo boosters toward the end. In past half marathons my legs would feel beaten down in the later miles, but I ran a few more 12+ mile long runs in training, so my legs were ready for it this time. Beautiful day for a race and lots of fun hanging out...

I commemorated Captain Jack's scoop 'n score in the semi-final game against Texas with an 83-yard interval yesterday, after 10 hill sprints. I did ten because it's been 10 years since the Buckeyes won the natty. The slower paces represent the run back down the hill. The 83-yarder is lap #22.

21.3 seconds compared to Jack's 11 seconds! Of course, 0.05 mile doesn't exactly convert to 83 yards... Recalculating with the time and pace, I probably ran about 97 yards. So maybe I did 83 yards in 19 seconds. Jack's pace was about 3:54 per mile! My best pace in the 100 is 4:57. I'm no speedster, but anyways... Jack's fast!

I saw this on the news the other day:

Runners scale the Great Wall in grueling marathon

The Great Wall Marathon in China, which celebrated its 22nd anniversary on Saturday (May 17), saw 1,219 runners take part in one of the most challenging races of the year. The Great Wall Marathon includes about 3 to 4 miles on the Great Wall itself. The course also includes sections on the Great Wall Huangyaguan section, with 5,164 steps and 4 kilometers of uphill climb. The full marathon (26.2 miles) includes two sections on the Great Wall, while the half marathon (13.1 miles) and 8.5k fun run include one section

Just sayin':

1. Who know that there is actually a "marathon" that included 3 to 4 miles on the Great Wall?
2. Hell, I couldn't run a mile in under 6 minutes in high school. I'm not sure about traveling to China these days; however, that does look like a cool event.
