Any other coffee snobs out there?

I am not a coffe snob, but just wanted to say Starbucks sucks.

I like really strong coffee, and Starbucks still sucks.

Dark roast means a fuller, richer flavor. At Starbucks, dark roast means burn the shit out of the beans and market it as premium.

I would rather drink the nasty watered down 7-11 crap than Starbucks.

That is all

(comes from a conversation I just had with a co-worker who couldn't figure out why she never has money until she realized how much she was spending at Starbucks. Slow day at work.)

Whew finally back home and able to brew my own this morning. Had a nice Sumatra from whole beans we buy at Costco.

I did have the opportunity to make a pot yesterday morning and realized that not only was it Folgers, but it was Folgers Light:yow1:. No wonder I was having headaches!

As much as I would love to start bringing in my own coffee when we visit, unlike my mom who wouldn't care, my MOL would easily be offended....

Get her a gift basket that has good coffee in it and it may make the hint a little more easily digested.

In my life I have posted 2 yelp reviews and been banned twice, coincidentally both in the last two weeks. I think this is unjust. Neither review was negative. I'm stuck in Florida for a month for a tech review. There's nothing to do on Sundays so I'm sitting at a Starbucks catching up on emails. Other than the know-it-all freshman liberal arts hippy kids the whole place was filled with semi-attractive women in their mid thirties feeding their caffeine addiction. I wrote a review I thought would bring more of them in.

I'm such a whore for Starbucks. I mean it. I've tried to give it up. But just like my ex husband every time I think I'm over it I have one moment of weakness and there I am with my legs in the air screaming "feed me your caffeine dick like the dirty slut that I am" and "oh that mocha cock is so big, I'm scared, please be gentle." I just want to get filled with caramel whip until it's spilling out of my mouth.

4 out of 5 stars, the slut behind the counter was kind of a bitch.

Anyone have a Chemex? Is it worth the labor?
I have one, a kettle for boiling the water (get a pour spout attachment to do a fine stream), and a grinder for getting the beans right. Personally I rarely use it because I can’t get it right and it is time consuming.

My daughter and a good friend of mine are excellent at using it. It makes a fantastic cup if you do it right.

Can’t say that it is. We have had a couple of automatic pour-overs that produced equal or better results.

We’ve owned the Technivorm and Bonavita in the past and have the Cuisinart now. The Technivorm made the best coffee but it was a pain in the ass with parts. Serious pain in the ass. Still have it on a shelf I think. The Bonavita was good too, but we wore it out. The Cuisinart, to my surprise, has been excellent. Typically don’t associate great coffee makers with Cuisinart, but the one in the link has been very good.
