Any other coffee snobs out there?

So, stuck at the Mother out Laws for the weekend and Christmas, which is in rural BFE. The morning coffee is just atrocious (Folgers) and there is no coffee places anywhere close to go. The best possibility is Speedway. I am already having headaches. At this point in time I would slum it for a cup of Dunkin......

Just to fuck with you... expecting a shipment of this soon: http://www.fontecoffee.com/

Good luck... those headaches are a bitch.

Jesus - old post. I drink about a half pot a day now. Love my 'home brew'.

Bri: if the coffee is bad, either double the amount of grounds in each batch, or get decent grounds and a French press. :)

Bodum travel press. It is a travel mug with a French press built in, best non-carnal Christmas gift in years.

Going more in the high-end coffee direction myself. Just got one of these:

So far I haven't made a decent pot grinding my own. Trying to get the grind setting and amount right. First pot was extremely weak and the next was too strong. I can't drink as much as I used to (nerves can't handle it) so I spend money on good beans. Definitely going to try Stauf's next time I'm in Columbus. I buy my coffee from Allegro http://www.allegrocoffee.com/coffee/coffee-products/single-origin#kenya-grand-cru
As far as store-bought, I love Dunkin' Donuts and Seattle's Best. Starbucks can go to hell.

Fucking coffee snobs. :shake:

You people are the reason McDonald's has their McCafes and Burger King has their oil-colored piss in a cup now. I can't even get coffee flavored coffee at fucking Burger King with a Bacon Croissanwich anymore.

Thanks a lot, assholes.

True coffee snobs don't drink that sort of garbage. I like my coffee nice and simple; no cream, no sugar, and not from Starbucks.

Isn't Seattle's Best just a weaker Starbucks?

Weaker? No idea. Tastes like coffee and not burnt pubes? Yes.

Maybe I should have been more clear. Starbucks owns Seattle's Best, it's their line of coffees marketed towards those who have more than a mild disdain for burnt pubes. Merry Fucking Christmas.

Confirmed.

Frankly, I find their roast far preferable to Starbucks. And for the record I'm a long time coffee snob.

I'm not sure where I read / heard it... And his may be all crap, but I understand that Starbucks believes their beans are of high enough quality that they can pull off such a dark roast. From my perspective, they are dead wrong.

Either Lavazza or Illy are good, fairly mainstream, examples of how a dark roast can be executed while providing a balance between the roast, oils and nutty qualities of the bean.

I'll still never forget the first time I had a cup of Illy. Munich, summer of 2000 down the street from Mike's Bikes (for those of you who know Munich). Geeeeeezus I thought I died and had been forgiven of all my collegiate transgressions.

My goto when I can't get starbucks (what can I say, they put those heroin crystals in every bag, you get addicted) is eight o'clock coffee which you should be able to get in any grocery store. That or excedrin for the headaches  . Merry Christmas.
