Who amongst us is a shepherd of yeast? I know there are some brewers here - but does anyone (else) enjoy baking?

Soon I will embark into the realm of levain (sourdough baking) and am wondering if anyone here has experience maintaining and baking with levain. I have sent away for a free starter (1847 Oregon Trail) and am simply wondering if anyone else on BP has any experience with this type of baking.
