I'm taking those comments with a grain of salt with how early we are in his recruitment...

“Who wouldn’t want to play in the ‘Shoe?” Cook shared with Landof10.com. “There is a crazy fan base, I’m in contact with the coach weekly, one of the best secondary coaches, to say the least, and the list goes on. I’m looking to visit soon. The Ohio State football program in general has my interest.”

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound Cook says the Ohio State brand is very strong in East Texas.

“(Ohio State) is a powerhouse program,” Cook said. “I know that a lot of their defensive backs play at the next level. They have a really solid reputation as a good football program and a really good university.”

It’s going to take a special football program to land the country’s 25th-ranked player in 2018.

“I’m looking for a school with great academics, a great football program with great secondary coaches and coaching staff in general,” he said. “A program that will afford me the opportunity to make an impact.”

Awesome that Okudah is and has been recruiting this kid, hopefully we can overcome the lure of Texas with Herman and get him in what is sure to be another stellar class, this kid is elite.

I guess I just kind of expect LSU to be down a bit until Orgeron proves it on the field, Tom Herman needs to do the same but at least he's the hot name right now... either way lots of time left to try and get his commitment.

On Ohio State, and what close friend Jeffrey Okudah has said to him

“(Okudah) has just been telling me that it’s a process,” he said. “He said they’ll get you there, but it’s a process of working extremely hard and he’s excited about the future. I’m supposed to be coming up there for their spring game and staying with him and Barron, but he said he likes it.”
