Annual Spring Game - 2009

Why is everyone saying Sabino was absent or had a "bad" day? He and Rolle were announced on every tackle it seemed like. Noone took Sabino for a ride he made stops and the ball carrier was down, no extra yards after contact. Homan was a non-factor. Justin Boren PO beast loved his game. Garrett Goebel was very strong at the line of scrimmage and had a little nasty in him. I agree with RBO in that I hope to never see Kerr in at tackle during any game or our QB's are deadmen. Granted he was up against Thaddeus but he definitely was a Spaniard yelling Ole! at least get a hand on him. Marcus Williams run down from behind by Moeller although disappointing on the running back hand, very nice on the defensive hand GREAT effort!

Great day to be a Buckeye though with some time together as individuals and then when the coaching starts again in the summer this team may gel to suprise a lot of the naysayers!

GO BUCKS!

Lots to like at the running back position and we'll not notice a drop off in buckeye wide receivers. (though I don't see anyone with Robiski's size and clutch situation talents) Washington is going to be one to watch. Pryor still looks like he's tossing darts, but I gotta admit the ball gets there quick and he proved he can hit the long pass. Ugly form though.

BUT, I went looking for one thing: someone who looked like he could fix the three year hole at left tackle. Instead I saw 3 QBs who had to scramble all day long. The bucks will still get through the Big 10 with that weakness, but it doesn't bode well for the USC game.

All of the tackles they made were the in-traffic stops that they are expected to make without being behind the line of scrimmage. Granted they were playing five or six yards deep in coverage most of the time (so the fact that there weren't really any TFLs wasn't their fault), but they didn't make any plays that they weren't supposed to, as opposed to a guy like Moeller who was all over the place and really stood out.

I thought Adams looked good. I paid attention to him quite a few times, though most of them were when he was at RT, and I didn't see him get beat or even let his man get close to the QB. Miller on the other hand seemed to struggle every time I saw him.

Yep. Thousands of broken sofas all over Ohio from all of the people jumping up and down on them. And 5-10 chairs all over Southern California from all of the people that care enough to get mad rather than just change the channel.

It's a valid point to say that it wasn't necessarily Chimdi's responsibility. Not sure about Cover 2 vs. Cover 3 - teams that I've been involved with assigned deep vs. flat responsibility specifically, regardless of the base call. We called it "Cloud" (corner has the flat) vs. "Storm" (safety has the flat). It was definitely a blown assignment. The first guy to get there always gets the blame from the fans, but it wasn't always his mistake.

I wasn't necassarily talking about the one deep throw Pryor made to Washington. I focused on Chimdi quite a bit, and he just gets beat a lot. He gives huge cushions, and was late breaking on balls. I'd like to re-watch the tape, but he seemed to give up a lot of catches. Just feels like Texas hangover where he was thrown at all night.

I saw the same thing. Adams really looked solid out there, which obviously was encouraging. I still think Adams will be the starter, whether it's at RT or LT (depending on where J.B. plays).

LB: The MVP of either defense was hands down Tyler Moeller. This guy is going to make a big impact this year if he is healthy, no question in my mind. He is a flat out player that loves the game, but he is also a great athlete who can run just about anyone down.

Like I said before, there is no way Tyler Moeller is not in the starting lineup. Having him in the game against Illinois gave us at least 7 net points in that game.

If someone is able to upload the spring game I would really appreciate it. Was not able to make it this year due to a family emergency. Thanks and go Bucks!

If it hasn't surfaced by tomorrow night (today? lol) I'll try to get it online here. But it won't be HD or anything like that. It's a long process because I use a DVD recorder to the record games. Don't have TIVO or DVR, unfortunately. Just want to get that out there ahead of time before I get any complaints haha
