Still Workin Hard...
I'm not sure if you're aware but tryouts have already taken place. They usually hold them a couple weeks after the bowl game in late January. Last year when I tried out it was on the 18th. This year it was on the 20th. There may be another one in the spring but it's not as well known or discussed. As for the prospects of making it. It all depends on the year you tryout and what positions they need. Last year when I tried out, the field was pretty thick and they weren't taking too many (mostly because of the renovation of WHAC they don't have room). I believe there were 52 of us and they only took 7. No true receivers (what I tried out for) unfortunetly. Last year they were looking for linebackers and safties after the departure of our backers, whitner and salley. This year I was unable to try out do to my Air Force requirements but the field was much weaker. This year they took a kid who ran a 4.75 at WR. Last year I ran a 4.6 flat and there were at least three guys faster than me. If you are going to try in the spring make sure you get in contact with the football office and make sure you know when it is. You're going to need an up to date physical and you have to be enrolled at OSU with all your fees paid. At tryout be ready to run-2 40s, 2 agilities, rep out 225 on the bench, 45lb plate calesthetics, and 10 gassers to round it out. Start training and good luck.
