"America's Next Great Restaurant"

BigWoof31

"Barkin' up the wrong tree"
I'm a bit of a foodie and thought I might start a thread for this new show.

For those of you who missed last night's premier, 30 contestants were widdled down to 10 after then made their pitch to Bobby Flay and the rest of the "investors."

After the first episode, its clear that the investors weren't too keen on the idea of building another Hot Wing restaurant. Ideas like a restaurant that specialized in Grilled Cheese, a Sports Wrap restaurant, a meat ball restaurant (Saucy Balls) and a Chicken and Waffle joint all qualified for the next round.

Seems like this will be an entertaining show!

I watched last night and thought the first show was a waste of time the way they formatted it. The beginning was way too much like American Idol for my taste. They brought people on they knew wouldn't make it just to laugh at their bad ideas. I don't enjoy that sort of thing at all.

Now that they have it down to 10 people with good ideas, however, I think it will be more enjoyable.

There are several seemingly great stories involved as well. In particular the unemployed auto-worker from Detroit.

The Asian lady and her idea about portion and calorie controlled menu has a lot of potential, as does the "Limbo" (heaven/hell) restaurant idea.

I feel confident that Saucy Balls won't last long and I don't like the idea of "Hicks" the tapa style BBQ restaurant.
