If I recall correctly from the very hazy, way back time machine, Urb wanted Mike Stoops to be the tOSU defensive coordinator. Mike could not do it, because there was some kind of parenting time arrangement he was part of. Does anyone recall that?
If that is correct, then, since Stoops got fired from Oklahoma, it is unclear who would have been better ... Everett Withers or Bob Stoops. Or Alex Grinch.
I think Gene Smith recently said that, when hiring coaches, success is not guaranteed, or something like that, as Gene Smith was explaining the "google picked" Ryan Day for him (sort of).

Hard to expect a big name coordinator to do much when he's not the man in charge of running your defense. Keep in mind OU had this same problem with Bo Pelini back in 2004 before he bolted for LSU.

I’m talking in terms of actually being a useful recruiter. He didn’t do a thing. Not one recruit can be credited to him. Zero CBs in the 2019 recruiting class. If that’s what you want for $1.5m, go for it.

Didn't you know? Oklahoma does no wrong. Ohio State really fucked up this whole Grinch thing. They've righted that wrong.......thank God for Oklahoma.
