Alamo Bowl to sign with Pac-10 & Big-12

I'm curious to see what everyone thinks of this.
I think it is a tad concerning because it may indicate that all of the criticism of the Big 10 is now having an effect on the bowl tie ins. I'm not worried that it will ultimately have an effect on the Rose Bowl or Capital One Bowl, but I've always enjoyed watching the Alamo Bowl. I believe it to be a great matchup.
Any thoughts?

I couldn't give a fuck less. Bowls are decided by money, not national perception.

My guess is outside of when scUM, PsU, or the Bucks go there the attendance from traveling Big Ten fans isn't as much as they would like, so they're trying the PAC 10. That'll just open a spot somewhere else.

If the Big Ten gets more even matchups in the bowls, I have no problem with it, even if it results in a little less money.

The Big Ten went 1-6 in bowls last year. But the Vegas favorite won all 7 games - every matchup went as expected. Part of that was due to getting 2 BCS teams again, but with 5 BCS games now, that's almost always going to happen for the top 3 BCS Conferences.

I'd gladly trade a better conference bowl record for a little less money coming from the 4th through 7th or 8th bowl games.

Bowls are decided by money. And the bowls decide which teams will travel and best and garner the most national interest.
It would be reasonable to assume that outside of the Big 3 the rest of the schools don't travel very well to a lesser bowl.
I'm just happy they didn't dump the Big 10 for the Big East.

Umm, isn't the Big 10 getting the Gator Bowl and this move by the Alamo Bowl was expected?

For The Big Ten, the Gator Bowl would replace the Alamo Bowl, which has hosted a Big Ten team every year since 1995.

This is a good thing since it means that the Gator Bowl thing is not just a rumor, and it was expected to replace the Alamo Bowl.

edit: This also opens a slot for the Holiday Bowl. It is assumed the Big Ten will get that to replace the Champs Sports Bowl.

A lot of this bowl movement can be caused by the fact certain fanbases get tired of going to the same bowls unless they are BCS level.
