Alamo Bowl: Northwestern +12.5 vs Missouri (ov/un 65.5)

Two, and they gave up around 40 points in each of them. Heck, they gave up 310 yards passing to Chase Daniels and almost jumpstarted him into the Heisman race.

You do realize that it was 35-3 at halftime and about 42-10 when we put our backups in don't you? Mizzou kept their starters in against our second string all fourth quarter to make the score look more respectable.

I am assuming the other game you are talking about is the Texas Tech game? I can't defend that one. Poor performance on our part. Though I will note that our defense gave up 30 to them...not 39. And if not for a dropped int they would have only given up 23.

Also our this is our first year under Defensive Coordinator Will Muschamp. He coordinated the Auburn defenses that held Florida to 17 points in both 2006 and 2007. If you look and see what he did with LSU in 2003 you will see that a team had only broke 20 points on them once. Anyone who has watched Texas all of last year and all this year can easily tell the improvement he has made upon this team that might not show up in the stats. This is a very quick athletic D that plays with passion and fire.

It doesn't change the fact that Daniels went 31 for 41 and 310 yards with two TDs on your defense or the fact that he's been doing it to all the B12 defenses for the last few season.

You also have to realize that this NW defense that held Daniels to 200 passing on 4.5 yards per attempt and recorded 3 INTs gave up 45 points to an OSU squad that was led by a true freshman QB.

And yet they lost the game? Daniel did all that to our defense and yet it was never close against us while Northwestern put up a more impressive defensive statistical showing and still lost.

If you haven't seen our defense very much then you can't really comment on how good it was by just looking at a stats sheet. Also keep in mind this is with 2 freshman at saftey. Yet we still held most of our opponents under their season average by about 17 points.

BTW if you think Daniel is anywhere in the league is McCoy, Bradford, or Robinson then you are sadly mistaken. Not to mention the next time Mizzou's coach wins a big game will be his first. Missouri is not a top flight big 12 team. Never has been and never will be.

And what was the score of that Cotton Bowl by any chance?

Point taken. My argument wasn't directed towards UT in particular but at the B12 in general. Daniel's struggles in bowls against the likes of NW suggests the defenses he had to face in league play had to be truly horrible for him to accumulate those kinds of stats season after season.

Yeah well he was a Heisman finalist last season was he not? These guys all put up huge numbers by beating up the same atrocious defenses. Let's see what McCoy's made out of, but I don't have any respect for the remaining QBs, especially Bradford and whoever is the QB at TT.

Mizzou put up 31 points on the UT Defense, but scored 28 points in the second half. I'm kinda sweatin for the 5th.
I have no idea how to read this statement. Mizzou's offense is nowhere near as incredible as the conference play makes it out to be. Northwestern, while tough-nosed and disciplined, is still a pedestrian squad athletically.
