There are two definite losers in this game. The first is espn for how much money they are going to loose on tv ratings. The second is the city of Tampa. I'm currently looking for flights out of town.

Well, when half of your conference is ranked in preseason, it helps. For example:


Ole Miss was ranked 19th when they played Bama. The Rebels lost 7 games.

Arkansas came in ranked 16th when they met. The Hogs lost 6 games.

Texas A&M were ranked 6th when they played. The Aggies ended up with 5 losses.

Auburn was 13th in the poll when they played. War Eagle ended up with 5 losses.

Tennessee was 9th; ended up with 4 losses.

LSU was 13th, lost 4 games.


Another example of "ranked at the time" being a virtually meaningless measure of anything.
