wow. i turned on the game when it was 28-14 with 2 minutes to go........and marshall was winning.

a TD, onsides kick, TD bomb on 4th and 10, fumbled punt, and field goal later and Akron wins.

it was a little shady how there was 6 seconds left when the ball was snapped for the field goal and the clock somehow ran out (in Akron). there was easily 2 seconds left, and that moron Pruett didnt even protest. i dont even think he noticed.

Awesome game. Imagine if OSU had Frye.

Frye threw for 3 TD's with a constant pass rush, many dropped balls.

If he had OSU weapons, he would be unstoppable

Brookhart is turning that program around. With the new facilities, and some winning, recruiting will pick up. Once the new stadium is built, watch out..

Hmm, OSU beat Marshall with a last second field goal. Akron beat Marshall with a last second field goal, do you think that???naaaaahhhhhh

What was almost equally impressive was the after-game on-field interview with Frye... just had a phenom experience with tons of NFL scouts in attendance.. you'd have thought he'd be out of his mind glad... he was smiling... and jovial... but extremely collected... extremely classy...

He really must be fabulous because not only did he have to avoid an unbelievable rush... then he had to go three..four... deep in his sequencing... then he had to decide the exact type of throw .. not based on the defenders.. but based on the skill (or lack of) of some of the worse receivers any QB should have to deal with.. all but Hixon sucks...

only thing worse than those receivers are the DBs... blindingly obvious... without Frye, the MAC leaders are 0-for-nine

actually it's their practice field that is new... located on the southern edge of campus... (Exchange Street and Brown Street)...

don't think they'll get a new stadium... the estimate to replace the Rubber Bowl is just over $60MM... unless the TVA comes back in play...

The stadium will happen, it is just a matter of when, not if.

They currently have a new field house, and outdoor practice field.
The Denver Broncos practiced their before the Hall of Fame game, and Shanahan said it was the nicest he has ever seen.

it is really awesome.

damn.. that would look nice...

here's a semi-comical excerpt from todays Akron Beacon Journal...

Little help, Mr. President?

University of Akron could sure use about $60 million to replace 64-year-old Rubber Bowl

By Tom Reed

OK, President Bush, the Ohio voters -- 51 percent of them anyway -- helped secure your re-election. Now, in the immortal words of Caddyshack's Carl the Greenskeeper: ``How about a little somethin' for the effort?''

We need jobs. We need better health care. We need about $60 million to replace the concrete eyesore that is the Rubber Bowl. Send the check in care of Mike Thomas, University of Akron athletic director, and consider it the first investment in your ``No Athletic Program Left Behind'' initiative.

The Zips, who have ranked no higher than 108th in Division I-A football attendance since 2000, would certainly qualify.

This puts Miami back in the MAC West championship hunt. If they win out and Marshall loses to Bowling Green...they are in. I'd love to see Miami get to a 2nd straight MAC Championship...this one would be at home for them. The program deserves it.

They really did bring in portable lights. The lights at the Rubber Bowl would block the TV cameras. They removed them with cranes, and replaced them with rented lights. After the game, the fixed light will go back in.
$75000.

Jerell Ringer is Javon Ringers uncle. Wierd as that sounds.

Wow.. I hope the Zippers get to keep them.. of the hundreds of games I have watched in the bowl... there have been a gazillion curses from fans because of those light poles... pretty sure VG even bitched about 'em on his website for years...

And I completely understand the sound of an uncle 3 years older.. only thing a bit weirder is my situation... I'm younger than 3 of my neices and nephews.. and they always call me Uncle...
