Game Thread Akron at tOSU, Sat. Aug. 31, 3:30pm ET, CBS

Case in point of not understanding.

How many Dline is Akron playing? Do you know what a zone blocking scheme is? And how many linebackers are shooting gaps, especially on already occupied O-linemen?

Get back to me when you got the answers. It's a simple adjustment and Kelly will make it. Relax.
So they are selling out to stop the run yet somehow, miraculously, locked on to our receiver fairly solid. Our guys may be stronger than Akron guys but we can’t tell that just yet.

So you’re saying our scheme is to get stood up at the offensive line and to allow linebackers to get clean shots at our running backs……on 3 of 4 running plays ? Just wanted to make sure.

What he's saying is that box counts are (usually) directly related to inability/inefficiency in the passing game.

There are ways to help alleviate that, but football is a game where things are easier said than done.

As I said, relax.

When you send 7 or 8 you are in man to man. That's when having superior receivers matters.
I understand and agree. But we should win at least some of these early on simply on desire to beat the man in front of you. The guys either aren’t sure of their assignment or facing the single greatest offensive coaching effort. Nothing looks easy yet. Q1 of first game…..but against and outmatched opponent.
