Game Thread Akron at tOSU, Sat. Aug. 31, 3:30pm ET, CBS

It is schematic.

Ohio State primarily blocks the runs with 5 dudes in the middle. Maybe 6, but never more than 6 typically.

It's fairly easy for a team to overload with 7 or 8 guys in the box and play gap control. You HAVE to pass efficiently for it to work or it starts to unravel entirely.
So you’re saying our scheme is to get stood up at the offensive line and to allow linebackers to get clean shots at our running backs……on 3 of 4 running plays ? Just wanted to make sure.

Case in point of not understanding.

How many Dline is Akron playing? Do you know what a zone blocking scheme is? And how many linebackers are shooting gaps, especially on already occupied O-linemen?

Get back to me when you got the answers. It's a simple adjustment and Kelly will make it. Relax.

What, you don't enjoy them wasting our time running the dumbest reverse pass I've seen in a while?

Not even a bit. At least it’s good practice for the D to have to stay disciplined against all this nonsense they are throwing out there.
