Affliction: Fedor Emelianenko vs. Tim Sylvia

It has nothing to do with them being small, they are nowhere near the caliber of PRIDE's old HW division.

And if he is listed some places at 220-225 does 5 pounds make that much of a difference to you? Your argument that big men aren't atheletic is just ridiculous no matter how you try back it up.

Faber was beating world class competition while Fedor was fighting cans like Zuluinho and Ogawa.

Like I said you don't see many great big men. Cro Cop could be a 205 fighter if he wanted.

He also lost to Nakumora, Sakuraba, and Waterman. Hardly a force in the heavyweight division.

He slammed Fedor like a rag doll. You and I have a totally different definition of the word "force".

That's why the higher weight classes attract more attention than the little guys for the most part. The technical stuff the smaller guys do is great, but sometimes you just get sick of watching a fight where it takes 17 punches to swell someones eye shut.

Pulver isn't what he used to be but hes still better than Randleman.

Come on.... Pulver better then Randleman??? Randleman has fought

Couture, Liddell, Rampage, Fedor, Rua, Cro Cop, Bas, Sobral.... Pulver cant even hold Randlemans pus rag from his staff infection... He was a champ. Why dont you tell us who Faber has fought? You dropped an 80% win ratio of his opponents now you sound like a WVU fan...

Difference is that at 6-2 230 Faber would be virtually the same size as Fedor. Meaning theres no weight advantage just each others skill on display to see whos better.

And if you think Faber doesn't belong in this conversation you're crazy, Faber could go around beating up on cans like Fedor does and go years with out losing, but unlike Fedor he actually has comp. And being the only good fighter in a terrible division isn't something to brag about, thats why Lennox Lewis will never be considered as great as Ali, cause of the comp level.

Have you ever tried to put on weight? Do you realize that you are talking about an 80lb increase in bodyweight...Mike tyson wasn't 150lbs either. If faber wasn't a california love child he wouldn't have half the following he does. I would like to see faber fight godzilla since he was a nothing nobody, and whip his ass...You are comparing a 150lb high school cornerback to dick butkus. I'd be happy to see faber fight bj penn and lose, and just get the shit over with..Who is faber fighting right now that has you on his high horse?

I'm willing to bet most people can't tell me who half of these guys are..What's next ? "man I just seen kimbo slice beat the shit out of some guy in his back yard on youtube"

I'll throw some names out there to see if you can recall any of these guys randleman has fought...Rutten,liddell,couture,Maurice Smith,Pete Williamns,Bobalu, crocrop (twice, and in his prime),shogun,Rampage Jackson,Rizzo,Kenichi Yamamoto,Ron Waterman, and fedor..That's just some of his fights..Not all of them

Fedor lost to Kohsaka from a stoppage...We all seen what happened the next time they fought.

I really don't get the aggression in these posts, other than one person saying that he thought everyone else could beat up Fedor, I think the posts have been primarily positive.
My post was nothing more then a realistic comparison of faber ever putting on 80lbs and fighting..
Fedor is a creature, plain and simple, he's like nothing else in MMA, but I am not going to toss everything to the side and say "FUCK EVERYTHING ELSE, FEDOR OR DIE!!!" I like seeing other styles, I like seeing other fighters, I like seeing what I see on the UFC, I like what I see in WEC stuff, I enjoy seeing what people have been trained to do and how they execute it. As do I..

I didn't see a lot of mancrush happening, maybe I just don't read enough MMA boards, as this is mostly where I discuss sports and stuff, but it seems that the more controlled fighters tend to be more mellow, humble and respectful, as their training has shown them. I know this is a Fedor thread, but I don't think everyone wants to see some guy running around screaming, look at Silva, the guy bows before his opponents, he doesn't brag, even in his pre fight blah he's more about "I am interested to see how I will measure up against him" not that "I am gonna knock his teeth out" and people love the guy. Hey no argument there. I actually have seen top level competition of things(obviously not mma),and realized that the people who rely on their training usually are the ones that have a deep passion for what they do.I love to respect that, because they are fighting for their dreams. There is no need to talk it up for some sort of mental security, because usually the emotional people will eventually become unstable and their composure will flatten out, when pushed(not always though)..

Last night was great for the sport. People who had cable or ppv got to see some good action that took place, like I said, the only thing that upset me was the vera fight, but otherwise, I thought the UFC card was worth watching and the Affliction card was entertaining as well. I would agree they both were entertaining. Considering there is no college football on especially.

And if Randy and Fedor get it on over a PPV, you can bet your ass Dana White will do something to compete. He knows, just like you and I do, there's a lot of action out there to be seen, and he's on top but he's not going to stay there if he doesn't fight. If you don't like the guys product, don't watch it, it's as simple as that. But for everyone that says they hate him, they still tune in to watch UFC and keep up on their fighters. That's like saying "Littering is a huge problem, and we need to do something about it" as you toss your cigarette butt out the window.
With the ongoing amount of feds starting up it will definitely start to show the watered down pay per view status of the ufc if nothing else. I would like to see what dana would come up to rival that fight..
