If you haven't played much NCAA, you should realize that unless you play every game, you will be waiting a long time for these things on PS2:
- Long: Simming thru one entire week of games
- Very long: Simming thru a few weeks that you don't want to play
- Long: Loading/saving your game
- Very long: players leaving (grads, nfl); cutting players
- Unbelievably long: recruiting 1 out of 5 weeks, each school has to contact all of their prospects and receive feedback
How slow are we talking? 5 minutes slow? 30 seconds slow?

When I used to travel for work, I had NCAA for the Xbox, and PS2. The load times on the PS2 typically took at least twice as long as they did on the Xbox, same thing for saving files. I no longer play NCAA on the PS2, but the Xbox times this year are faster than ever. Starting or ending a game now takes mere seconds, where as before it would would take around 30 seconds to switch between the menu screen and the game screens (and vice versa.)

I would guesstimate that the average load/save times are better on the Xbox by at least 1/2 of the PS2s time. When running longer processes, such as simulating seasons, that can easily amount to several minutes difference.

FWIW, I have an Xbox, PS2, and a gamecube. Given the choice, I cannot understand why anyone would not select the Xbox for a new system, unless they had a strong affinity to a console-specific game/series that is unique to another console. It is that much of a difference.

I think I've already made it clear that my PS2 vs. XBox knowledge is as slim as a razor blade, but I have another factor you might want to use in making your decision: what system(s) do your friends have? I'm not saying this is one of those "If your friends all jumped off a bridge" issues, but its pretty cool to be able to share games with friends. Even if you're only getting NCAA2006, you might want to be able to take it to a buddy's house to hang out for the evening. If you have XBox, and he has PS2, (or the other way around) you can't do that.
