CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Ty Lawson's toe injury is creating uncertainty about whether the junior will be ready to go for top-ranked North Carolina in this week's Atlantic Coast Conference tournament.

Coach Roy Williams said Tuesday that Lawson's right big toe was badly swollen after the weekend win against Duke. He said he didn't know whether the speedy point guard would be at full speed or unable to play in Atlanta.

The news came the same day Lawson was chosen ACC player of the year, outdistancing Florida State's Toney Douglas and teammate Tyler Hansbrough -- the reigning national player of the year.

North Carolina opens the tournament Friday against either Virginia Tech or Miami in the quarterfinals.

Lawson is sitting out the ACC tourney and it makes a lot of sense for Carolina. They don't need to do anything this weekend. They need him next weekend.

BTW, UNC and VT are going down to the wire, 77-76 with only seconds on the clock.

:slappy: he was TRYING TO FOUL and he clearly did foul, but its called a jump ball because the conference darling North Carolina and their top player Hansbrough are locked in a tight one against a unranked team

Horrible call with the game on the line... Hansflopper was even surprised because he was trying to hack...

I wish I didn't have to watch the game on the computer or else I'd have some nice film clips of Flopper's travels for BN27... Good lord he walked a lot on his drives in the 2nd half today and got away with it...

Yep, that was one of the most blatant instances of protecting one of the conferences crown jewels I've ever seen. I literally jumped off the couch yelling at the television. If I were VT's coach, I think I would have thrown a chair at the official's head. :shake:

Not calling the foul could be forgiven as "letting them play" with the game on the line (well, not really, it was clear Hansbrough was TRYING to foul), but actually awarding possession to UNC is a joke.

Now the E!spn clowns are arguing "He (Hansbrough) had his hands on the ball, it's a jump ball. What else are you gonna call?" ignoring the multiple times he slapped his elbows and wrists before actually getting his hands on the ball. :roll1:

Or the body check he initially gave him before coming across the dude's body with his arm... :smash:

Then what got me even more is that the douche went prancing off beating his chest like he had just made some huge great play... That was given to you you d*ckhead...

let me guess, Digger Phelps was the one saying "its a jump ball"?
