A dyin' breed.
Found this on ohiostatebuckeyes.com. It might have already been posted, but I was reading about the senior players earning their degree this past quarter, and found this to be interesting.
Ohio State Football Players at the Scholar-Athlete Dinner:
1998 15
1999 20
2000 26
2001 24
2002 28
2003 41
2004 43
2005 44
Ohio State Academic All-Big Ten Selections:
1998 12 (third)
1999 11 (sixth)
2000 13 (second)
2001 9 (seventh)
2002 27 (first)
2003 21 (first)
2004 22 (first)
Everyone talks about winning football games, and success off the field, and how Jim Tressel plays a key role in preparing his team to play football. Well, look how he prepared them for life with an education. The amazing stat is the jump in Big 10 All-Academic members in starting in '02. Kinda proud to be a fan of a program where the leader is putting an emphasis on the books also.
Anyway, I can't wait for September.
